I am looking for an on-line manual or instructions on how to detail strip my Argentine P-35/Hi-Power. Or if anyone hear has the know-how, could you please outline the steps?

Thanks.

I don't have any pictures to go with, but I can tell you how.

Firstly, field strip the pistol.

Then take the grips off, and put the screws in a safe place.

Frame:
-- Take the stripped frame in your left hand. Hold the hammer back. Take a toothpick or similar object and push the sear pin (in the rear frame rails) out. You can make this easier by giving the sear slight rearward pressure to offset the sear spring. The sear will pop out into the magazine well.

-- The flat sear spring can now be removed by lifting it up and out.

-- GENTLY let the hammer down until it rests on its own. Now rotate the ejector forward 90 degrees. This "unlocks" the safety lever. [If you have an ambi safety, you'll need a punch to take off the right-side safety lever] Push the safety lever out from the right side to the left. When you get this out, the hammer/strut assembly and the ejector are out.

This is as far as I'd go, unless your aim is to take the mag safety out. Taking out the trigger is generally unnecessary, and *can* be a pain. If you do have to take out the trigger, drive the trigger pin out from the right [tapered] side to the left side. It MUST be driven out in that direction, or the frame and pin will be damaged and the heavens and earth will combine against thee.

So, assuming you left the trigger in the frame, you will have these parts:
Sear and pin
Sear spring
Ejector
Safety lever
Hammer/Strut assembly

Slide:
-- The first step is to get the firing pin out. I use the slide stop for this. Push the firing pin in, then slide the firing pin retaining plate down. Be careful or the pin and spring will put your eye out, or get lost.

-- You're going to need a set of roll-pin punches for the rest of this this: First, drift the pin holding the sear lever until the lever drops out. You don't have to drift the pin out entirely, but you can if you want to.

-- Use the same roll-pin punch to drive the roll pin holding the extractor out. The extractor and spring will pop out.

You're done.

Here are the parts from the slide:
2 roll pins
extractor & spring
sear lever
firing pin and spring
firing pin retaining plate

Reassembly is exactly the reverse.

A tip, if I may: When trying to get the sear back in, you'll be fighting the mainspring and the sear spring. How I do this is take the frame in my left hand. Hold the hammer back with your left thumb, wedging the frame down and into your thigh. This will hold it securely.
With your right hand, put the sear spring back in, and get the sear in place. At this point, I hold the sear there with my left index finger while my right hand finds the sear pin. From there, it's just a matter of putting that pin in.

It really is very easy. You shouldn't have any trouble.

Ok, I agree about driving the pin from the tapered side to the untapered side. However, on my hipower the tapered side of the pin is on the right side of the gun (if the pistol butt is down and towards the shooter).

D'oh!!! I'll be fixing that...

Thanks,
