Perhaps they should have left well enough alone. Looks like another much ballyhooed "improvement" to JMB's design isn't.

For all the money Para is spending on full page ads touting the thing, one would think they could just simplely have put a quality spring steel standard extractor in like JMB intended!

Well, I guess that proves it for all time. The PXT extractor does not work at all.

I'm convinced!

Just out of curiosity, has there ever, ever been a case of a standard 1911 extractor failing?

I posted a thread not long ago about my new 7.45 CCO.
Power Extractor broke into three pieces after 1oo or so rounds.
sent it back to Para and got it back in three days (very surprising)
I took it back to the range and shot a few boxes of various +p and regular ammo without a hitch. Been rockin and rollin with it since and actually started carrying it once I was confident with it.
Maybe it's just getting the bugs worked out of a new design.
my Colt 1991A1 never failed to extract with an old extractor but now niether does my Para, but it should never need tuning. Time will tell although like I said I am confident enough in it after about 800 rounds that I do carry it.

I wouldn't trust ANYTHING about a Para. Most of their internal parts simply suck. For the same money, you can get a nice Colt or a decent Kimber.

I'm not a traditionalist with 1911's so I have no problem when they try to improve upon a design, at least what they believe is an improvement.

But, they should 'cover' themselves and either allow a standard extractor to replace their design(fit), or offer the traditional confiquration in addition.

Same as Kimber, offer the external extractor...that's great. But keep some of the standard models and let the consumer decide.

Because "we" just don't trust 'you guys' to do the right thing. :D

Bweahahahahahah!!!
Never seen it personally when I've been firing, but saw mysteriously jamming M1911 at an IPSC match (I've only been to three) and at a couple at 3-gun matches. There's always talk about "tuning" extractors and making sure you get it right.

I've also read about traditional spring-steel ones breaking--rarely!!
