Dem. convention

For those of you who like me supressed their gag reflex long enough to watch some of the convention speeches on the theory of "know your enemy", I have the following thoughts: Ms. Heinz-Kerry is beyond odd (her term to describe herself)- she is downright "wacky", and her speech was terrible (not to mention her "shove it" comment after lying about using the term "un-American"). Kerry's speech, while pretty good for him, had the hokiest begginning line I've ever experienced: (salutes) "I'm John Kerry, and I'm reporting for duty." Also, he should have taken lessons from Monica's former buddy, Bill, in timing & cadence of political speeches. On the whole the Dems were remarkably good at hiding their radical liberalism during the convention, so they could appeal to undecided voters on the basis of "moderation". The Pres. has his work cut out for him if he doesn't want to end up like his dad.

Although I don't think Bush deserves a 2nd term - he'll have no trouble handling Kerry and Edwards. Kerry has to use the Vietnam footage - his Senate career is essentially empty of any examples of leadership.
