Very excited. Picked up a new Ruger Single-Six convertable, 6.5" blued. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet as the closest public range is closed. I think this pistol mught force me to join a private, indoor range. Oh well. I love it anyway. I'm practicing ejecting empty .22 LR's as we speak.
Anyone know who makes a good, not TOO expensive leather holster for this piece? What about a leather belt with those cartridge loops on it?

I love my S6
I picked up a cheap Uncle Mikes nylon holster for it.
You sure you want to mess with cartridge loops on a .22?

Hehe, maybe not. I'm thinking of other accessories like a Belt Mountain base pin.
Also should I worry about installing a steel mainspring housing? Is the housing on new Single-Sixes aluminum or something?

If you are looking for the so-called "Old West" style belt & holster, take a peek through a Cabella's catalong or their website. IIRC, they had some for around $50

It would likely have an aluminum ejector housing. Unless you need the extra weight of the steel for for balance, I' wouldn't bother. Many change out for the steel one for that little extra weight when it''s a large bore for an ever so slight decrease in muzzle jump. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother. All my Single Sixes remain attatched to thier factory housings.

I really want to accessorize/customize it, heh.
Could you guys point me to the right kind of Belt Mountain base pin I should buy? I'd like one that fits the cylinder more tightly, but I don't want to do any tooling/modifications. For example,

Can I order a base pin in this style and just 'drop' it in?

Bought my Ruger Single-Six in 1969, paid about $70.00 for it. Still shoot it almost weekly.
Very seldom change to the .22 mag. cylinder.
Fun to shoot and accurate.

I have been shooting SSs for 30 years they are great. You might drop in a Wolff spring kit to sweeten the trigger pull.

Stevekl, the drop in units may require a little dressing (done with sandpaper) to fit, but that's about all. The #5 that you have linked may need you to adjust the notch on the locking pin because of the diameter of the head on the base pin. Not all revolvers need this, but be prepared if yours have to be adjusted.
