Republican In Name Only

Sort of a liberal in a conservative's cloak.

I don't know who the other two are but are you claiming McCarthy is a Republican?

Mike Ferguson sure is.

Republicans in the Congress and Senate are blocking reissue of the ban.

This is a discharge petition.

Lonnie,

What do you mean by a discharge petition? It looks like the resolution prohibits any parliamentary manuevering.

The resolution has to be passed by the full house before consideration of the bill. This fits in with a discharge petition.

The only thing stopping the AWB is the Republican Party majority in the House and the Senate.
RINO's in liberal states help that majority. Without it, the dems would move the Assault Weapons Ban to their highest priority.
If you want to keep your rights, vote the anti-gun democratic party out of office. Move the country to the Right and toward gun rights. You don't do that by allowing the anti-gun dems back in office.

RINO's in liberal states help that majority.

While at the same time making it largely nominal. Look at the Senate, for instance: The ban extension passed there. With Republican votes. After a vote which would have prevented the amendment from being considered, if the Republican leadership hadn't voluntarilly thrown the victory away. Something we've seen too many times: A victory won purely for public relations, then a dive being taken to render it moot.

A majority that exists only so long as the likes of Lincoln Chaffee and Olympia Snow approve of what it's doing, isn't much of a majority. In the Senate, we'd probably be better off without the RINOs, and with a minority that is still big enough to win filibusters, and actually wants to! It's probably worth having in the House, though, since there's no filibuster there.
