Happy Birthday Preacherman!! Your posts are always informative and well thought out (and sometimes just plain amusing.) You bring a welcome perspective to our group, and we are better for it. Thanks for your participation.

To keep this gun related, what kind(s) of gun(s) did you get for your birthday?

Thank you, folks! I had the stitches out from my back surgery last Friday, and I'm on a heavy dose of antibiotics to deal with a post-operative infection, so between the pain and the pills, I'm not going to have a very active birthday - but hey, things can only get better, so I have something to celebrate!

No birthday presents to brag about, I'm afraid, but that's OK - I think I shall be treating myself to a rather nice Belgian steel-frame Browning BLR in .308 that WildAlaska seems to have found for me (thanks, good buddy!). I shan't be able to shoot it for a while, but I'm very excited to get it, as this will go with my Savage 99 in the same caliber for a nice selection of .308 lever-actions. Yummy!

I shall drag myself down to the local Outback this evening for a steak and a beer or two (yeah, I know, can't drink beer on these antibiotics, but I daresay one or two won't kill me! :D ). Wish some of you could join me!

Happy Birthday Sir !!!

Give the cats the old pain meds , that way they sleep all the time, and therefore can't get under your feet and trip you up .

Antibiotics - photosensitivity may be a problem ....[ consults pharmacology book] MY resources say Beer on Sunday has no reactions to 'biotics. :D

Need any more rationale - holler , I probably have a resource for it.

:uhoh: :D

Happy Birthday Peter, just saw this thread. The best day you can have, as far as I'm concerned, is any day you wake up, the rest is just icing on the cake.

The 308 might be a bit heavy on the ol' back, but that's what the .22LR's are for right??

Have a happy bday!
