Hey 12 Volt - I was wondering if your P-01 guide rod will be appropriate for the new CZ-85 Compact? I'm not sure if the caliber change effected rod dimensions. I know that the 85 Compact lower shares the same specs of the P-01, but I'm not sure about the guide rod.

Thanks!

Gary,

If 12voltman doesn't know for sure then let me know. I have an extra guide rod for my P-01 that I can send you to check.

First and foremost: I purchased a Stainless Steel Full Length Guide Rod from 12 Volt Man and there is no doubt that it's improved my P-01 in many ways. His guide rods have been highly recommended by all who took the dive and bought one. Here's the link to his site: http://www.jackashcustom.com

This is a topic (http://p201.ezboard.com/fczechpistols82792frm61.showMessage?topicID=612.topic) that's been deeply debated in the P-01 forum (http://p201.ezboard.com/fczechpistols82792frm61) and we've all come to the agreement that they help quite abit.
Some say they can detect a better and more consistent cycling using the SS rod. It adds a little more weight to the front end and every ounce reduces muzzle flip and felt recoil. Stainless steel will not warp or bend in a handgun at handgun energy levels. Plastic will. It will not allow your heavier recoil spring(s) to kink. Stainless steel will not wear out before plastic. And the list goes on and on.. I'd recommand reading the topic link I posted, it's worth the read to base a final decision.

I don't know if the P-01 guide rod will work in the 85 compact. It stands to reason that it would be the same. I won't know until someone tests it out. If someone is willing to buy one and test it, they could certainly have their money back if it did not work.
