Ok, so I live in Texas and carry a Texas CHL. As we all know, it does not look like Texas and Ohio will establish reciprocity any time in the remotely near future.

Does anyone know of a license that I can get that offers reciprocity with Ohio for a non-resident of the respective state?

If your askin what I think you are get a Florida Non-resident permit. Its good in Ohio as well as several other states.

Florida is your best bet. According to the Antis up here, they give them out in Crackerjack boxes and Happy Meals to every derelict on the corner, so I'm guessing that the process is easier than Ohio's resident system. ;)

Make sure you read up on our inane vehicle carry provision.

You do know about packing.org, right? http://www.packing.org/state/index.jsp/ohio

Yeah, I check packing frequently. Did some searching already. I guess what I am looking for is the easiest, and least expensive state that I can get a license in without any further certification that my Texas CHL required. I know Florida is an option, and a good one at that. I am just looking for something a bit more cost effective at the moment.

What's more cost effective than the license that more states recognize than any other? When I got my FL permit it was good in 22 states -- I think that's now up to 23 or 24.

I just noticed the issuing authority in Florida is the department of agriculture lol.

I noticed that a while back. Had to read it three or four times to make sure I wasnt reading it wrong.

Hawkmoon:

You are correct, its a great value overall IF you desire those states. I don't need them. My Texas license covers just about everywhere I want/need to go except for Ohio. If there is a less expensive license available that allows me to gain Ohio, thats the way I want to go.
