We need to make more noise about America's widespread support for banning military-style assault weapons!

Last week at the Democratic National Convention, Representative Carolyn McCarthy, the lead House sponsor of the assault weapons ban renewal, proclaimed: "If you care about gun violence, about our children, about our police officers on the front lines every day...if you believe...that military style assault weapons do not belong on our streets or in our neighborhoods...Then I ask you to call the White House...Call the Speaker of the House of Representatives and demand -- DEMAND -- that Congress serve the American people and vote to extend this ban before September 13th."

Take heed of this advice, we need your help to demand that YOUR government elected by YOU listens to the voice of the vast majority of Americans, who want to keep assault weapons banned.

How You Can Help Now:

1) Email Congress and demand they pass legislation to keep assault weapons banned.
http://action.csgv.org/action/index.asp?step=2&item=19782

2) Donate and become a member of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence so we can continue our efforts to prevent gun violence.

listens to the voice of the vast majority of Americans, who want to keep assault weapons banned. The "vast majority" of Americans have no idea whatsoever that this is an issue.

This is important to us. This is important to the antis. But Joe-America is utterly ignorant. You might as well ask him about the candidates who will be running in an election 3,000 years from now on another planet inhabited by an insect race that has political debates with subtle changes in pheromone excretion.

The poster rifle does not appear to be a banned assault weapon. No flash hider or folding stock.

Don't expect the truth in a debate fueled by hysteria.

Heh-heh-heh.

It was certainly nice of CSGV to provide this convenient online form for e-mailing my (hah!) representitives.

It was even nicer of them to not lock the text box, so I could delete their anti-civil rights spew and replace it with a pro-gun message of my own.

I recommend that everyone do this a few times.

The antis are claiming that "asualt weapons" will flood the streets if the AWB exspires. Funny but last time I went to a gun shop they had a AK-47, AR-15, and a Berratra Storm for sale. The so called AWB didn't ban anything, you just can't have certain features on new semi autos anymore.

The leftist extremists are just snivelling and whining for the sake of snivelling and whining. They're well aware they're going to have to wait until January, 2005 to enact another so-called "assault weapons" ban.

I hope someone puts up a website devoted to making a tally of the death and bloodbath that will result when the AWB expires.

Doesn't have to be complicated. Just a tally based on news reports.

Sorta like that site which featured a camera looking at a handgun laying on the table. They wanted to see when the gun got up and left.

Thank you, Chris. Great suggestion. One anti-AWB letter coming from the web site of these nudnicks will negate about 100 pro-ban ones.
As the slogan of the Democratic Party often was: Vote Early, Vote Often.

Nice idea Chris. This is what I changed their propaganda into -

"As your constituent, I strongly urge you to allow usless legislation that would ban military-styled "assault weapons" to sunset.

A number of bills have been introduced in both houses of Congress that seek to ban "assault weapons" and high-capacity ammunition magazines. So far, Congress has show the good sense to allow such expensive and usless legislation to fail.

Many national law enforcement organization as well as hundreds of civic, and professional organizations have stated that support for banning "assault weapons" has had no beneficial effect on public safety.

Military-styled "assault weapons" have never been shown to be the weapons of choice for criminals and terrorists. Congress should continue to discard and block such misleading and misguided attempts to ban firearms.

I thank you for your consideration of this matter, and would appreciate it if you would inform me of your position on the federal assault weapons ban."

If they send the letter as shown in the text box they will transmit our message as well as their tripe.

"It makes no sense for assault weapons to be around our society."

So say the anti-gunners in quoting W.

The friggin hypocrites actually find an example to quote him when it's not in mockery.

Liberals are weasels.

As your constituent, I strongly urge you to cosponsor and vote for legislation to encourage the possession of military assault rifles, such as the M-16A2. This is within the purview of the second amendment.

The current ban on semi-automatic look-alikes is set to expire on September 13, 2004. This is a good start, but not enough. The 1986 ban on new machineguns should be your next target.

Every local law enforcement organization as well as hundreds of religious, civic, and professional organizations support the expiration of the AWB, as it has been shown to have no noticable effect in it's ten years, as it targets only cosmetic features, as well as in violation of the constitution of the United States.

Military-style assault rifles belong in civilian hands. These guns, designed to be effective in numerous enviroments, resist abuse, and be easy to maintain. They enable citizens to form effective militias in times of need.

Besides, these weapons are not the weapons of choice for criminals and terrorists. Criminals prefer concealable weapons such as handguns and sawed off shotguns, while terrorists, when they aren't using bombs or boxcutters, prefer to get their assault rifles from sources outside of the USA, where they can get fully automatic weapons as well as RPG's at incredible discounts ($80 for the full-auto version of the AK-47 and two magazines!).

I thank you for your consideration of this matter, and would appreciate it if you would inform me of your position on the federal assault weapons ban.

I wonder if they know some of us will do this and put something in there to make it look like your message was changed but when you hit "send" it reset the message and sent it all at once? Or do they wait and collect the email forms and look over them and then send? Just a little curious... I'd hate to have any of our names used in ANTI support.

CLEARLY you have been brainwashed by the powerful and evil gun lobby! Why, just looking out my window I can see no less than 10 people shooting at each other with assault weapons! Now they are killing handicapped children! Oh the humanity!

Hey, the rifle in the "She belongs in my neighborhood..." poster, what is it? I likes it.

I swear, whenever I see anti gun schlock like that they always mention Uzis and AK-47s being the choice of criminals. What about all the other fine choices out there??? Whats wrong with the AR? or FAL? Too expensive? too heavy? I know that when these things start flooding the streets in September I'm gonna be out there with a bucket or two.

Should we tell them that is a STG 44 and not an AK-47 in their posters? Lol.

Apparently there is going to be a flod of semi auto STG-44s on the streets when the AWB sunsets, personally , I cannot wait. :D

My edit, just for the heck of it!

As your constituent, I strongly urge you to vote against any legislation that would extend the assault weapons ban.

A number of bills have been introduced in both houses of Congress that seek to ban assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines. So far, Congress has had the sense to not act and thankfully time is running out. The current ban is set to expire on September 13, 2004 and should be allowed to do so.

Many national law enforcement organizations as well as hundreds of religious, civic, and professional organizations realize that banning assault weapons as a public safety measure has been ineffective in reducing crime.

Military-style assault weapons do belong in civilian hands. These guns, designed to protect freedom and homeland security, are not the weapons of choice for criminals and terrorists. Congress should pass NO legislation to continue to ban these invaluable weapons.

I thank you for your consideration of this matter, and would appreciate it if you would inform me of your position on the federal assault weapons ban.
