I'm not familiar with California laws but I'd like to carry my CRKT folding knife and Cold Steel Scimitar with me when I visit my friend in Sacramento. Are these knives legal for carry? Thanks

Yes. In fact, in Kali, there is no limit to the size of a legal folding knife.

Thanks Mute. I'm just being cautious because you know the firearms laws in that state. Thanks again.

I don't believe there is much of a limit - bounce a PM to Jim March to come by this thread and give some info.
His EDC is, I believe, a Rekat Sifu that has a blade of 5.45" designed to slide under the Texas 5.5" max. Also, I believe Cold Steel's catalog has a "legal in Cali" mantra occuring throughout their catalog.

Make sure it is not completely concealed (clip must show). Local ordinances vary. For example, Los Angeles has a 3.5" concealed limit.
I suggest you visit Jim's excellent site:

You CAN completely conceal non-switchblade folders in California. In fact, I recommend doing so...too many cops get funky with the law.
See also my site linked already :).

Jim,
Are titanium folders allowed? I have one of those Mission all titanium folders. Was there a law not permitting knives that "can't be detected" by metal detectors?

Can Titanium knives be detected by metal detectors?
I have no idea one way or the other. IF they can't...that could be trouble, yes.

You may carry folding knives in California.
No switchblade/auto knives [PC 653k].
No lock blade knives, or knives w/blades>2.5", on school grounds [PC 626.10].
Have fun and spend as much money as you can in California:)!
