I'm taking a buddy of mine shooting for the first time tomorrow, and I want to do something than just shoot milk cartons. I'll be bringing my AK, Winchester Defender, and hopefully my dad will let me use his Ruger P90.
Any ideas? Like shooting games, or fun things to shoot at? I made some targets ala http://www.firearmstactical.com/briefs29.htm So I got some shillouettes to put hole through, but that may get old quick. Thanks in advance.

If the dude has never shot a gun before, remember to keep things fun and safe and nonintimidating and set up with a high probability of success. Spend some time on safe gun handling first and the four rules. Bring .22's in addition to your combat caliber stuff. Think large targets set up close - don't let him leave discouraged for not hitting anything.

Well, things that kinda blow up when shot are cool. Cookies, crackers, glass bottles (if you are in a place where you can do that responsibly).

Is this guy likely to get spooked? If not, Tannerite, Molotovs, those small gas cylinders for camping stoves w/ tracer or incendiary etc might liven things up. Again, be sure to be responsible. I live near some pretty barren desert where stuff like this is A-ok. YMMV.

If your buddy is a first time shooter then take the .22s and teach shooting. Save the heavier calibers for another day. He/she will be a much better shooter later down the road.
