Well at the local pawn shop they have 2 of them. Both 98K Mausers. The one i like most is $280it is like new, very good shape, wood, bore etc.. It has the numbers 4113?? on the stock, reciever and bolt. It says 1944 on the tag. It also has the German marking on it as well. The eagle crest things:D For lack of a better term. Are these guns drying up like I have heard?

The other is the same gun but much rougher looking. Worn metal, and wood is not real nice. German marking have been removed too. Its $150.I just want a shooter really. Though the $280 one is nice :) Which should I get? I cant decide:(

get the $280 one. that sounds real nice. then you can order from CDNN the accessory kit, which has the ammo pouches, sling, oil bottle, and a few other goodies. they should also have bayonets for it as well. it'd make a nice display piece.

then you can save up to get a cheaper one you can shoot.

Get the nicer one provided that it has a good bore.

FYI, the Nazi ordnance acceptance stamps are called waffenamts.

If you get curious, there should be a code on top of the receiver. Usually, it's three letters: byf, dot, or whatever. That reveals who made the darn thing. Post that, and somebody here will be able to tell you who built your gun.

I think it was DOU on the reciver. Not 100% sure though.

If its marked DOU, it was made at Bystrica Waffen Werke between 1942 and 1945, depending on the date on the receiver.

See what I mean about this crowd? Czech, if it's dou, and you know the 1944 part.

Made in occupied Czechoslovakia, under German, er, suggestions, in order to, um, support the German war effort to, ah, liberate Europe from terrible things like civilization. :D
