I had a super time at Perry this weekend! We left MI Friday morning, and got into Port Clinton before noon.

After we received our competitor packets, we spent a couple hours on commercial row.

We shot the Garand match on Saturday, and did really well for new HP shooters. My father was on relay 5, and I was relay six on firing point 36.

I did pick up a 2.4 million 1-65 LEAD rebuild SA SG Garand, that looks almost brand new. It gauges a 0&0! Some of the rifles that were listed as SG looked RG to me, I wouldn't even consider buying one of them. It was only a stroke of luck that I found this one, the nice ones didn't seem to stay on the rack long.

With the amount of people buying m1's, the CMP store looked like M1 assembly line.:)

This was our first time shooting the JCG match, and it won't be the last!!

This thread is worthless without scores!

Dad 249-2X
Me 221-1X

I don't think that's to bad for a HP newbie, after all that was only the second time shooting in a match, and we both did better than last time.:D

Good job! Now, time to start sticking your toe into deeper water...meaning all those OTHER matches there at Perry. ;)

We are already looking for stuff closer to home.
Next year when we go back for the Nationals, we plan on shooting more of the matches.

My Dad even gave up going to the Grand (ATA) for this last trip to Perry. He hasn't even shot a single round of trap this year. As soon as it turned warm, we started to train for Perry.

We'll be back, and we'll be better!

Awesome shooting! Definitely keep at it and go for broke! Maybe we'll bump into each other at Perry next year if I make the cut for the state team here in New Hampshire.

Good luck and great shooting,
~Nathan

jason, look into getting on your state team. most states have teams and junior programs. i was on the virginia state team for about 5 years and enjoyed every minute of it. it really helped my shooting ability and it helped me shoot expert in boot camp (platoon high shooter).
