Are Brenneke slugs, or any othr deep penetrating slugs, available as reloading components?
And, if Brenneke's are are they avaialble without the plastic fin or vane or attached wad or whatever you call it stuck to the base?
Just curious.

Ballistic Products has some slugs that may suit you, though none are called Brenekkes. BP also has data and loading tools like roll crimpers.

I've toyed with the idea of rolling my own, but recent results with the KOs etc, kinda leave little room for improvement.

Those brennekes do all that most want in a slug.

My question was inspired by a few threads mixed into one: the all-purpose defense round, and the all purpose hunting round. Two different rounds though.
For the defense round: buckshot gives short and medium range tissue disruption and an expanding pattern, while slugs give soem longer range potential and effectiveness against bigger game, automobiles, etc.

A fantasy round for a fantasy (we hope) situation, and believe me I am just brainstorming.

So I find these:

Sort of a buck-n-ball but with a slug! The slug is fractured so it will go the long range but still breaks up on impact, not really penetrating extra and seems to me just a long-range-pellet(*)-delivery-system.

So I am wondering about replacing the fractured slug with a nice hard Brenneke or something similar.

Just me free associating again...

(*): pellet in this sense being multiple little projectiles, round or not.

They also have 3.5" hevi shot buckshot......ouch, $115 for 25? That's insane.
