Where are Al Mar knives made?

I scanned an article from a gun mag that was about knock off knives. If I read it correctly, it said that Al Mar knives were never made in Japan. Is this right? The reason I'm curious is I have one that was made in Japan but I thought it was real.

that article is wrong.

I have several Al Mar knives that were personally handed to family members by Al Mar himself that say seiki, japan on them.

I have an Al Mar knife that I bought at the Gunsite Pro Shop. That may not mean much, but I think it is highly unlikely that Gunsite would be selling knock-offs or phony stuff.
The blade is engraved: "Product of Japan"

That's what I thought. Mine also says "product of Japan" and seems of fine quality.

Thanks, Griz

I have two Al Mar's that are most assuredly not counterfeits and they are both marked as being made in Japan.

I just got an Al Mar Auto SERE today.
It is marked on the blade and the box as Made in USA

All the AlMar autos will be US made, as any auto from a legitimate company has to be. Autos can't be imported so they have to be made in the US of A or converted here after having been legally imported from off shore.
