Two new CZs in two days

About two weeks ago, I got my hands on an AT-84S, a Swiss-made CZ clone. I instantly fell in love with the CZ ergonomics, and I had pretty high hopes for the AT-84S as a carry gun.
Early last week, I had a chance to test the AT-84, and I was sorely disappointed. The gun had FTE and double-feed problems at least once per magazine. Cleaning and lubing didn't help, and changing mags didn't do any good either. I was Bummed, with a capital B...I loved the feel of the gun.
The magazines for the AT-84S are very difficult to find, so I decided against having my gunsmith try to get the gun running. I traded it off to him as a tinker toy and parts gun. That and a few bucks got me a used Glock 17 with night sights.
Sunday I stopped at Outdoor Sports around the corner from my place, and they had two CZ-75 models in stock. I traded the G17 straight across for a CZ-75BD, the full-sized model with decocker and no external safety.
I liked the fit and feel of the gun so much that I went back yesterday to pick up their other CZ, a Compact PCR. I did some research on the PCR after seeing it at the store, and it looks like it's a favorite with the CZ crowd...and hard to find. Lacking the spending cash outright, I parted with a SIG P226 with night sights. (They gladly took it in trade, in all fairness making sure I knew that I was "trading down".)
Today I took both CZs out to Tamara's backyard range to test them for function and feed reliability. Both of them got a few mags each of ball and HP ammo, and they digested everything I fed them. Both pistols are very accurate, and a joy to shoot. Both of them functioned 100% with the pre-ban Baby Eagle mags I had bought for the CZ clone.
The PCR in particular has the makings of an outstanding carry piece. It is much lighter than the steel-framed full-sized CZs, and it's exceedingly well balanced. All the corners are rounded nicely. That said, even the steel-framed 75BD carries much better than its weight on paper would suggest.
All in all, I'm pretty pleased with this duo.

The only thing I added to my 75 full size was a set of Hogue wraparounds, cause I love the way it feels.
SCORE on that PCR, too!

Tradin a Glock and a SIG for CZs?? I'm sure the G and SIG lovers
are rolling around in agony:)
i can hear them now "oh, geez, with Nites even. Ohhhhhhhhh"
For those still foreign to CZs, i guess they will stay that way.
All the better for us CZFers.
Congrads on your CEE-ZEDS. You are very well armed.
Eric says that the PCR is once again in production.
Guess CZUB underestimated the demand for the CCW
favorite.
There are also some .40s and a superb .45 in the lineup.
I'm sure you will want to work your way up to them.
Better start saving for the Tactical. I'm told that there
is a lot of demand for that gun.. already.

Careful, some of the CZ purists from CZforums will tell you have to have a manual safety to have "the real CZ experience".
That's a pile of crap, of course, as I prefer my BD with decocker. A manual safety and cocked and locked is not for me. I would even love to have the CZ-100 polymer DAO or better yet it's SA/DA variant we can't get, the CZ-110. This gun would sell like crazy here if CZ would bring it in for around $400.
Anyway, you have two super guns, brother. Enjoy them !

You just got yourself some nice guns. You'll absolutely love them.
Just a side note, I've noticed that you have a tendency to trade off your guns a lot in order to try something new. While I doubt very much that you'll do that with your new CZs, let me know if you eventually get bored with that PCR and if I have the cash at the time I'll happily take it off your hands.

You traded guns away!
How sad... I will never do it, and if I do, someone can go ahead and slap me!
But nice CZs anyways!

Get a CZ-75 compact with Hakan wood grips, and you'll swear its a BHP.
Too bad Hakan doesn't have checkering:(

Since I carry DA/SA pistols with the hammer down and the safety off, an external safety on this gun would be pointless for me. The SIG-style decocker works just fine for my carry preferences.
Just a side note, I've noticed that you have a tendency to trade off your guns a lot in order to try something new.
The nucleus of my collection does not get traded...guns that I've grown too fond of, or that would be impossible to replace. I probably wouldn't trade if I was so loaded that I could pay cash for every gun I want to try. Glocks and SIGs, nice as they are, fall into the "utterly replaceable" category to me, because I can always get another G17 or P226 just like the ones I've traded. The PCR, OTOH, is a hard to find little critter, and possibly discontinued to boot.
Now I just need to find a decent set of grips for the PCR, to replace those Goodyear panels. If only Hakan would check his email... ;)

"Thats a pile of crap"?......hmmmmmm. I have both and carry both ways.....to each their own...sayeth the choir :D
And as far as a Hakanized CZ feeling like a HP? I think it feels like a Hakaned CZ..... Both are stellar guns..but Hakan is the master in his own right.....and is working on checkering and BHP grips........
BTW....nice guns.....Shoot well......
Led...Be patient, in Norway it costs a FORTUNE to get on the net.....Hakan checks when he can I promise you he will get back with you......
Hey check out the CZForum.......

Lendringser,
In general I find you have excellent taste in firearms. I also have both the CZ-75B and PCR and they form a part of my no trade nucleus. In the same class as my BHP's, P-7 and 1911's.

Tecolote,
I was wondering that too with the round trigger guard. However, I don't think the BD has a round trigger guard after closer inspection. I think it's deceiving due to the way it is presented up against the case. If you look real close, it appears to me that it has the same trigger guard as all the rest of them have.
Nice guns both.

You're right about the trigger guard.

The only CZs I've ever owned were a pair of TZ-75s: one was an electroless nickel one with black controls chambered in .41AE and the other was a rare all case-colored one. Wound up selling 'em both some eight years ago.
I know this thread is a big ol' CZ lovefest ( ;) ), and I know they're fine pistols, and I've shot plenty of them (including lendringser's new toys) but they just don't do a thing for me. :(
Thank heaven they make so many different kinds of guns, eh? :)
