I was looking at a Smith 65-2, with the pinned barrel and recessed chambers today.
My local shop wants $249 for it, it appears in about 95%+ shape, is this a good buy? I really liked the gun from just handling it.

I paid $279 for mine last year. It is a great gun and shoots real well. Mine had some old Pacmeyer's on it and I found some real nice Magnas in a local shop for $12 and I have a set of old beater Targets that I trimmed the bottom off just flush with the bottom of the grip frame. Really handles well and keeps em all inside 6" at 25 yds.

That sounds like a good price for a Mod65 357 especially with recessed cylinders and pinned barrels in the Prk something like that would run about $375-$450.:)

If it's a 3" barrel, round butt, that's a very good price. For some reason, the 3" models seem to command a lot more attention.

I may be wrong, but I don't believe a Model 65 ever came with a pinned barrel and recessed chambers. Maybe model 64 did. Please let me know if I'm in error so I can set my calender back in my old mind a few years.
DeltaElite, yeah, I think it is a fine buy.
Thanks:)

Yes Model 65's were P&Red they changed from P&R in 1982 with the 65-3
The 64's were 38 spec which were never recessed but were pinned until 1982
