I've decided I should have a revolver for ccw. I now carry either a G26 or a P-32, depending on circumstances. However, I know a little less than nothing about revolvers for ccw. I own several pistols, but the only revolver I own is a Rugar Single Six .22 fun gun. I'm going to hang around here for a while and do some other research, but in the meantime I sure would be interested in what you folks might have to say about revolvers for ccw. Any thoughts, suggestions or opinions would be appreciated. Thanks,

For all my experimenting over the last year, I keep going back to my mod 60. Reliable, dependable, reasonably accurate & simple to use.
Can't go wrong w/ the simplicity of a revolver ;)

What about a Ruger Sp101 in 357 Magnum good solid revolver decent price or a S&W 340 357 very light weight frame pricey though.:)

I carry a S&W 625 4" on the belt and a 642 in the front pocket. Talk about extremes!

Depending upon your carry method, I would recommend either the S&W 640 .357 (23oz.) or the S&W 642 .38+P (15oz.). They are both very nice guns with internal hammers allowing for a relatively snag free draw and ultra simplicity. IMHO, these are THE concealed carry revolvers that can't be beat.

Believe it or not, there are places where I don't feel "concealed" with the 340 in my pocket. In some situations, It might be a good idea to keep that paper-thin P32 for the times that you don't want that lumpy revolver in your pants.

I carry a model 60LS daily. I shoot .38s from it in a very tight grouping at 30 feet at the range. I shoot .357s from it with less accuracy due to the recoil. I am very happy with "Rosie" (her name), and confident that I could use her to defend myself well.

'Pends on your preferred method of carry. I like 2" J-frames for pocket carry. I like 3" K-frames for concealed belt carry. IWB doesn't do so well for me, but others here say you can conceal a 4" K-frame as easily as anything else that way. That being said, I carry a 649 (the humpback, covered hammer model) in the front pocket, and/or a 3" K-frame, wobbling between an M13 in 357 or an M547 in 9mmP, in a high-ride Hume "Double 9". When I get a better holster for it, I may occasionally carry Babe, my 3" 629 in a high-ride pancake. An acquaintance told me that carrying a 629 was reflective of having a bad attitude.:D

I like, carry, and recommend the alloy framed Colt Cobra, if you can track one down. If you can not find a Cobra and don't mind a little extra weight the Colt Detective Special is an excellent carry gun as well. Used, good condition Detective Specials are pretty easy to come by.

Why -oh- why would someone decide to change to a totally unfamiliar platform for a CCW?
Even though it's heavy, my personal favorite is a GP-100 with 3 inch barrel and fixed sights.

With a three inch barrel and a "dry weight" of just 18oz this 7-shot, 38/357 is a terrific carry gun. Light, concealable, and confortable! For me it has been a marvelous concealed carry weapon. I have attached a pic of mine. Good shooting;)

I'm wholly tempted to sell my Security six to fund the purchase of one....or convince the wife that I need it :)

I like the Colt D frames for pocket carry and the S&W 4" barreled K or N frames for IWB.

I have a model 640 in 357 Magnum. In fact, it was the first one I saw shortly after S&W introduced it. It has proven to be 100% reliable and conceals easily.
