Steyr SBS as Sniper rifle

i am thinking of building a rifle for basic 1-500 meter target shooting in a LE/Counter Sniper format. i see alot of guys using the remington platforms and i know that they are probably pretty good guns. however i bought my first Steyr last year and out of the box was getting 3 shot 1 hole groups from the bench at a hundred. so, i was thinking about getting a SBS prohunter mountain heavy in 308 and topping it w/ a 3.5X10 VariX3.
any cons to this idea you guys think i should consider?
