While she's never bought me one for a gift, she does enjoy shooting, and indulges me in my gun mania. SHe also hunts (yep, hunts) with me, and will be bow hunting her first year with me this year.

I think that's pretty cool. Recently one of my aunts took up bowhunting. She was pretty proud showing us her spikehorn that she took with a bow. Even cooler was what I overheard her telling another female member of the family...part of her motivation was she wanted to spend more time with my Uncle. How's that for commitment? They recently celebrated their 50'th anniversary. Show your appreciation for her quality, because I don't think there's too many women around like that.

Alright, I'll bite --

Got a picture (no, it's not digital so don't ask) of my girl in a black thong, with wet hair hanging over her chest, holding the Mossberg 590 in front of a mirror. (it was a right place at the right time with a camera conveniently sitting on desk next to me -- she acutally made me sign a contract written in my own blood guaranteeing confidentiality after I got it)

AND, she says she'll buy me my SAR-1 if I stop chewing tabackie.

Love mah womin...:D

ok, ill bite. My wife is the coolest as evidenced by some of her quotes

"I'd rather you spend money on guns than jewelry"
" I think its sexy when you carry"
"There is always a reason to get another gun"
"I love shooting with you"
" I fantasized about staying home with the kids while my husband went out hunting"

There are more, some of which arts gramma would not aprove of. but one of my favorites is

"you kill it, I'll clean it"

When I come home from a succesful hunt, she takes the game to clean it, gives me a beer, and tells me to take a nap. After taking my boots off for me:D

My wife and I went to a Special Ops display today. While I was looking at M4s, M21s, and ACOGs she went up the climbing rope and rapelled down again. For that she got a free Army T-shirt.

Left the instructor in shock as she is twice his age.

Congrats - those of us who have great wives are lucky! Mine picks up brass when I'm done shooting, is glad I carry and has let me buy a ton of guns this year including a full-auto UZI and supressor totaling over $6k. :)

If she really loved you, she would've sprung for a Sako M39. Better luck on your next marriage.

Deuteronomy 34:5,6&10
So Moses the servant of the Lord died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the Lord. And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Beth-peor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day. And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face.

Gosh, not to brag but my wife;

..... has her own gunsafe

......is ranked sixth in U.S in U.S.I.M.L.T.

......won second in summer bench classic against 14 men, light varmint class.

......bought me a new BT-99 plus for last aniversary

......ordered a EAA double rifle for up coming aniversary [ I don't know this]

......shot the groundhog in her garden last week.[75yds offhand with her .308]

.......killed 19 blackbirds one Saturday this spring after seeing them tear up songbird nests.

......pick out a Springfield 1911 in 38 supercomp for her IDPA gun

......is a certified NRA pistol instructor

......just asked me if we can go shoot a round of sporting clays after church.!

She does have her faults, can't get her to load her own ammo. Won't pick up my brass. Guess everything has it's trade offs.

Cheers,, Goldy

......is saving up so we can go dogging in the Dakotas next year.

While my wife isn't really a gunnie she's pretty cool. She sees the value of having a firearm in the house, even if she only wants to mess with it enough (including practice) to be sure she knows how to use it if she needs to. She indulges my hobbies / obsessions as long as I don't get ridiculous about it. While she won't say anything about my buying a Mauser of maybe an Enfield, but if I came home with a $1000+ M1A she'd probably Have Words With Me. :uhoh:

Actually I could buy expensive stuff - she'd be unhappy about it and sigh a lot, but I don't really have a need. Based purely on the "Cool, I want it!" factor I'd rather have the Enfield than the M1A anyway.

Many years ago when I was out of work and we were hard up for money, my wife insisted I buy an M1 Garand that I ran across.
I wanted one since I was first issued one in the USMC in 1956.

I told her we couldn't afford it and it looked like things would get worse.

She told me, as she always did during hard times, "Don't worry about it, we'll be OK" and she made me go get the M1.

Last year she died suddenly and I didn't have a chance to say goodby.

Once in a while sit down with your ladies and tell them what they mean to you.

Why I think MY wife is the coolest

Wife: "Either go to the range or ride your motorcycle, just get out of the house so I can clean."

Wife comes home from work on a Friday with a brick of .22's. "I want to shoot this tomorrow."
Me: "Sure, we can go and do some shooting"
Wife: "I don't think you understand, I want to shoot all of it."
Me: "All 500 rds?"
Wife: "yes....my week sucked and I want to shoot the whole thing"
She did, all 500 rds with her Ruger 22/45 and 4 mags. The bonus was, in between outright dumping mags, is she really tightened up her groups and did the best shooting ever with the 22/45....then proceeded to blow thru the brick as fast as she could load the mags.

Wife after watching me dump a mag thru the 1911, reload, and do it again: "That turns me on when you do that."

First time the Wife shoots the AR, after slow fire with a mag, she proceeds to dump 4 30 rounders and then 2 20's. I pick up the mags and she walks up to me...
Wife: "can I do that again?"
Me: "sure, but you have to load the magazines.....you shoot 'em, you load 'em."
Wife: "I will give you a [CENSORED] if you load them up for me."
Sigh....I am so whipped.

Wife: "Do you think you can get another SKS so we don't have to share?"

All this from a woman who was raised in an anti-gun family. All she was ever taught was guns are bad. You touch them, you die. You look at one, you die. you think about one, you die....and so and so on.

I think her mom hates me.

ID_Shooting, your wife is definitely cool!

I have to admit, I am pleased with mine as well. A news account came one about a couple who had stockpiled in excess of 10K rounds of ammo, several guns including fully auto AKs, and then had bomb making materials. When the news segment ended, my wife looked over at me and said, "We don't have enough ammo."

I ordered 4 cases that night. It arrived the following week. She said, "I still don't think that is enough."

I forgot the most important part of this thread.....

Happy Birthday ID_shooting. Enjoy the present.

I just realized this thread was turning into a "my wife is better then wife" thread.

And yes, for the record, your wife rocks for getting you that present.

As cool as my wife is, I have yet to get a firearm for my Birthday....but she is still a keeper :D

Take care

M2, sorry for your loss, I don't know what I'd do if I lost my wife.

As for the lady herself...Bought me a Kimber Elite Carry for Christmas while we were dating (they only made 1200 of them and they didn't go cheap). Loves to go shooting, climbing, skiing, ride motorcycles, etc... Bought me a Browning A-Bolt Medallion for my birthday last year and talked her parents as well as mine to chip in on it.

Finally got her to clean guns with me.

She probably shoots better groups than I do, but you'll never hear me admit it.;)

For those on this thread who have lost their wives, I can't imagine the pain you're going through.

It's been 27 years since we've been married, and 36 years since we met. I'd rather lose both legs than lose my wife. My heart really goes out to you guys.

However, my heart doesn't go out to guys who [censored] or [uncensored] brag about whatever the "arrangement" is.

My wife is to be treated with respect. And that respect begins with the way I talk about her, both with friends or strangers.

Great to have wives who understand our games. While mine has to yet by me a gun, she did tell me to build a range, so I would have a place to shoot, and stop whining about not having one.

22 years, I"d say she's a keeper.

Thank you Rex,

Spent Sat till about 10 carefully taking it apart and soaking it in breakfree, then cleaned my self up and sat with my wife through a "chick flick." Then most of the day yesterday cleaning cosmoline out of it and got it back together. You know, the Russians knew what they were doing when they built it. Very few parts, solid infoulable action, and you can completely disassemble and reassemble with the tool kit it came with. My hats off to Mosin and Nagant!

PS. I made a nice breakfast to thank my wife yesterday morning.

I'll throw in here. As Corriea can attest to, my wife is pretty cool. For my birthday this year I got a loaded 2004 Z71 Suburban. She did not balk when I paid the SOT, AND applied for the stamps on 6 destructive devices. She does not give me crap for buying guns for my children (ok, I got my oldest a chipmunk .22, and I claim that the other one was for her too......).

But most of all, the thing that makes her really cool is this: She never gave me crap while I was laid off for 2 years, she has given me 2 beautiful girls, keep the roof over our heads and held our family together while I did a year in Afghanistan, and she loves me dispite all of my umm, issues.

Although the wife hasn't gotten me a firearm (she has allowed me to purchase many! laughs). The best thing about her is when we (the guys and her) go shooting and she out shoots them. Wow, I'm a proud husband.

I think my wife took up shooting to spend more time with me. She now has her own rifle and handgun and joins me most times I go to the range. She gets very serious whenever I handle her guns, to "make sure I don't hurt them".

Haven't managed to get her interested in cleaning them or reloading them....which doesn't really matter, as I find it relaxing to do (almost as enjoyable as a day at the range).
