A couple of years ago, I read about a mount that fits on the bottom of the revolver grip, so that the light was below the hand. This was for a home defense revolver, so carry was not an issue.
I have no idea who made it. It might have been a custom job.

Weeel, even though the absence of lights, lasers, gizmos, and doodads on revolvers has brought joy to my heart, if your revolver has a big enough underlug on the barrel, you could have a smith cut the mounting grooves of say, HK or Glock into the underlug. It seems, however, that you would have to take the light off to reload.

There was an article not too long ago where a smith took a short length of 1913 rail and attached it to the bottom screw. It worked really well to hold a surefire in place.
There's also the TACM3, but I'm not sure of their website addy.
The downside to mounting to the underlug is that the light interferes with reloading and is exposed to the hot gases coming through the forcing cone gap. The light wouldn't last long.
Mounting a light under the grip really balances the weapon out nicely and holstering isn't a problem.
