Was browsing through my Cabelas book and came across this ceramic porcelain polishing media. Sounds great but claims it is for use in tumblers designed for liquid media agents . Has anyone used this stuff before and will it work in my Midway Mod. 1292 tumblers ??

This stuff is getting very popular among BPCR shooters. When I get tired enough of washing my empties with a test tube brush, I may join the crowd.

It is said to work better in a rotary tumbler, but can be used in a vibratory if it is water tight. I have seen it recommended to keep the liquid level about an inch below the level of ceramic bits. Its weight will put more wear and tear on the machine.

Find out the caliber limits. The stuff my coach uses is pretty coarse and would not work in anything under about .40 caliber. But I have heard there are smaller grades for smaller calibers like my .38-55. I dunno about bottlenecks.

I use some ceramic media that can be best described as a sections of very small sausage, cut on a bias. The stuff is used in my Dillon vibratory cleaner with what amounts to an acidic detergent solution.

Works absolutely great. If you deprime ahead of time, it even cleans the primer pockets and will clean the insides of cylindrical cases, too.

Best stuff I have ever used.

The only drawback is handling liquid.

I found some media that is smaller than the stuff that cabelas sells on the net. I hope it will work for bottleneck cartridges like my 243 win. It was only available in quantities larger than I really need so once it arrives I will be willing to sell some of it by the # at the same price it cost me if anyone is intersted.

The stuff cabelas sells is 3.2mm X 8.7mm and the stuff I am getting is 1.7mm X 5mm. Considering my 243 neck opening is around 6mm It should be able to get inside the case and roll around some. I will also try it on some .22 caliber brass to see how it works and post my results.
