Possible to convert a bolt gun to a larger cartridge head size?

Hi I've got a tikka m595 in 223. After I shoot out the barrel, I'd like to convert it to a cartridge with a 308 cal. bolt face. How tough would it be to put the bolt in a lathe and open up the bolt face to 308 size? Then I could rebarrel it with something like 6mmXC

That's going from .378 to .473" and a different extracter. Does Tikka use the same bolt and receiver for both cartridges ? It might be easier and cheaper to just get a new Tikka.

I believe so. Most people said what you just said. In that case I'll see If I can have a factory take-off barrel put back on it before I sell it.
