WOW, never thought I'd say that!

Was on one of those rare days, was at the gf's parents house, was flipping through the channel.. Don't know what movie, but...

Man and his gf in the car. 3 street thugs come up to the car, and smash the windows. The guy gets out of the car, and starts running.. He's got a cell phone, and he's trying to dial and run at the same time. The Operator gets on, and he's trying to explain the routes he's running on... The bad guys catch up to him and kick the #@)(*)@#$( out of him, with a lead pipe, and leave him for dead, and rape his gf.

My girlfriend's comments were "WOW!! He's sooo stupid! He should have had a gun!!" her other comment was "You were right! Calling the cops in case of emergancy is useless... A cell phone can't replace a gun!" :p

While the scene was unfortunate, I am glad that my gf saw (even if it's on tv) a real life example of how the liberals say "Why do I need a gun? I have a cell phone!" is stupid.

I wish I knew the name of the movie (B or C movie though).

That's almost a scene out of Mad Max where the guy/girl try to get away from the biker gang in their hot rod but don't quite make it. Not the move you're thinking of, though.

Watched a stalker movie a couple nights ago, based on the true story of Laura Black being stalked by Richard Farley (he shoots her and kills 6 of her co-workers).

In the movie her boyfriend tries to show her how to use a gun ("Empty all nine rounds into him"), but she doesn't bother to carry it.

He went on his rampage days after a temporary restraining order as placed on him. The judge said afterwards, ""Pieces of paper do not stop bullets."

If there's an immediate threat, no cell phone or piece of legal paper is going to help you.

As defence...
Dial 911 and die.

For clean up and documentation...
Dial 911.

Sam,

Someone told me once:

"In an emergancy, I dial 1911, when the emergancy is over, I dial 911." :D

Is that what you mean??;)

Armed and senseless. Should have used that 1 1/2 ton battering ram - his car. A ton of Toyota works better than 230 grains of lead anyday. Ahhh, T.V., now it is good for something after all.

Why do they ALWAYS get out of the car?? That's the part I don't understand.. I'm in a 1.5 TON vehicle, and I give that up for my foot and try to "outrun" the bad guys?

Someone will have to explain the logic of those actions to me..

It's like watching the police chases on TV.. The bad guy always runs, it's like, lay down, give up... Don't make them send the dogs after you, you are screwed then, the German Shepherds will outrun you, even if you are Carl Lewis. There's not even a close competition...

Because it's just entertainment. They want to stretch out the action and create suspence. Who's going to pay to see "girl get's attacked in car, drives to Police station, spends next two hours looking through mug books" or "Intruder with hockey mask and chainsaw breaks into house, occupant ventalates him with 7 rounds of 45ACP and sits on front porch to wait for the cavalry" vs. "Girl gets attacked, runs from car, breaks a heel, goes into bar, but a guy is on the phone, goes out back of bar into dark alley, runs crying down alley, while footsteps echo behind her, etc, etc".

Even exciting real life is too boring for TV.

Training film.

Find out the title, then the question is whether or not it's on DVD?

BTW, maybe you can go to http://www.tvguide.com/listings/ and figure out what the title is.

Then again, maybe TVGuide doesn't cover Taiwan.... :(

But surely, there must be a TV schedule you can access.

kind of off topic:

My wife asked me what I wanted for christmas and i told her a good pocket knife for self defense reasons and she scolded me for wanting a weapon. She said it was dumb and not something she would ever buy me. Then a couple of weeks later we were meeting some friends at a restaurant we had never been to and got lost. We stumbled into a bad neighborhood and she started to panic. She asked me in these exact words, "What if we get car jacked or attacked? Don't you have something to protect us with?" And I said ,"Well I asked for a knife but Santa said it was stupid and she wouldn't ever buy it for me!"I swear to god the look on her face was priceless. I'm one step closer to her accepting a gun in the house.

I can't find the name of the movie...

But, let me recommend you GUYS something..

Spiderman... The movie.

The part where MJ is running into the alley as she's chased by 5 men and it's raining.. (Gratuitous nipple shot withstanding) I took it as an opportunity to say to my gf "Now see? Had she had a gun, she wouldn't need Spiderman... and come one, do you really think some clown in a red suit will always show up and save you or is self-defense your own responsibility?"

My gf then answered me; "I think I'm going to have to carry 3 guns!" :D

Because I told her like I was told;
two is one
and one is none
so carry three.

My gf ROCKS!! I need to clone her... She thought MJ was a dumb defenseless girl who is going to get herself raped...

I have to say that dial 911 and die is just about right. But I do not believe it is the fault of the rank and file Officer. The 911 system is bad!! They need more people to operate it and better equipment.

Then pay the Officers a worth while salary!! Even civil servants deserve to be paid!!

I think it's the stupidity of the masses to think someone who is 6-10 miles away from you can do anything about your current plight that needs to be addressed within the next few seconds; not the next few minutes or hours.

I agree, 911's system is outdated and the poor excuses for service they run is yet another reason to not depend on them for time of emergancy..

Even better, when someone does try to outrun a car, they always obligingly run down the middle of the road, instead of between buildings, parked cars, etc... Oh, yeah; and keep looking back (slows you down) as if you are going to lose the car...
