Kalifornians: Profit from SB 489 effects?

Suppose SB489 stays intact and is carried out. Why couldn't someone make a huge buck by buying a number of affected Semi-Autos now and then PPT them after the supply of new ones are cut to nothing? As I understand it, the only way to buy a semi-auto after a couple of years from now is to get one through a PPT from another Kalifornian. So Supply/Demand laws would kick in, effectively increasing the price.

The way it's currently written, the guns that are now on the "approved list" would be grandfathered as long as the company pays to keep it on the list. So, theoretically, the supply won't shrink as long as the manufacturers keep ponying up the bribe $$ to stay on the DOJ list.

Wait a minute,
So when the company quits paying the bribe, the guns already in the hands of citizens become illegal?

Or did I read this wrong?

Can'thavenuthingood, they don't become illegal to own. But if they are not on the approved list they can't be sold by a dealer. Only can be sold private party or on consignment then. Mark

Something about this feels like it's almost too easy....it makes me wonder why it appears that I'm the only one bringing this up.

I've already bought a CZ PCR with the hopes of getting a CCW. If not, then I'll just sell it after it drops off the CA approved list. I'm a tad hesitant of getting anything else because it would be largely because of the potential for profit. If something were to happen to stop the law from going into effect, then I'd be out money that I wouldn't have spent.

Are you going to buy anything as an investment in the same way that I'm talking about?

This already happened with my S&W 296,which I aquired PPT as S&W quit paying the bribe.

How could it end up like this, with governmental approvement lists, when the 2nd Amendment exists?

I believe that several other states have their own AWB also.

Is there a chance of the AWB being renewed? If so happens, what can/will you do?

But even California, I would guess, is quite gun-friendly compared to this place...
