Does anyone have experience with the automag extractor problems of breakage?
I have a shooter friend that has an automag and cannot keep extractors from breaking..He is a class A toolmaker and has made some out of NAK 55 (Rc-40).
He makes the brass with a CNC lathe and is a very carefull hand loader.
He did purchase one from a fellow that supplies them for about $107 each...They still break.
Any suggestions??

Differential hardness treating? Where does the break occur, at the claw or along the length of the body?

The material used was NAK 55. This is a pre-hard tool steel similar to P-20.
It tests Rc-40 thru-out. The extrator broke at the beak.
