ChristopherG August 31, 2004, 07:19 AM Leupold (http://www.midwayusa.com/rewriteaproduct/491454) 4 x 33 fixed.
PS--nice rifle. Trying to hold off from getting one myself for just a little longer now.
dakotasin August 31, 2004, 08:12 AM leupold vx-2 3-9x40 or leupold m-8 6x36.
krusty311 August 31, 2004, 09:17 AM I've always been fond of Bausch & Lomb glass myself

Art Eatman August 31, 2004, 10:16 AM I favor the Leupold, although many other mid-range priced scopes have improved in quality in recent years.
As far as magnification, there's little real need for much over 4X inside 300 yards, if one's main use is deer hunting.
I like the 3x9, for benchrest load testing and "just target shootin'", or for varmint shooting...
Like dakotasin, many like a 6X. My father had one on an '06 for decades. Dunno positively why, but I've always felt the 6X was sorta betwixt and between. Less field of view than the 4X; less power than the variables with 7X to 9X capability. Tossup, I guess...
FWIW,
Art
BJPARKER August 31, 2004, 11:13 AM Nice choice. I may stray but I always come back to leupold- a fixed 4x,sounds like all you need. If you need to be more economical than that then Nikon buckmaster 4x, great for the money.
Omaha-BeenGlockin August 31, 2004, 02:57 PM Try to make the stretch to a Zeiss Conquest 3x9x40----think I've still seen them for $399 but most places are $429 now.
Once you get a Zeiss---you'll never go back.
1fife August 31, 2004, 03:45 PM is this what you were talking about?

WhiteKnight August 31, 2004, 09:13 PM I believe it is.
Also Bear Basin does have the 3-9x40 Conquests for $399.
They'll also beat any other person's price. (http://www.bearbasin.com/catalog.htm)
Gordon August 31, 2004, 09:25 PM Leupold VariX 2 3-9 (alot of scope for your price range. Burris Fullfield 2 3-9 (VERY bright and a little cheaper) , Zeiss Conquest ( a very high grade for a little more!) A Leupold 4x with duplex, won't ever fail you, and you will be aiming not twiddling!:D
6530 August 31, 2004, 10:26 PM I just put a Sightron 1.5-6x42 on my Win M70 .270. Haven't shot it yet, though. I've had great experience with Sightron glass in the past.
I'd say it depends on your intended use. If it's a 300-yard rifle, go with a 4-12x. If it's a short range rifle, say under 200, I'd suggest a 1.5-6 like mine.
TooTech August 31, 2004, 11:41 PM Nikon Monarch in 3x9.
EXCELLENT scopes!
