Anyone think we will see any pistol caliber carbines in the M4 configuration after the AWB expires in a few weeks, by any big name manufacturers? How about an AR in 357 Sig or 40 S&W?

Olympic Arms already makes them. 9mm, 10mm, and .45ACP.

I'd expect them to add collapsable stocks to the options list on 14 Sept.

Colt also makes a 6450, which is a 16" 9mm with collapsable stock, A1 upper, flash hider that used to be LEO, but now with the AWB ending, will be avail. for the rest of us (I am considering one, or maybe a Oly 9mm built on a Bushy lower).

I just finished handling my friends RRA 9mm upper and it is nice. The barrel is pushed back more into the receiver and thus even though it may have a 16 inch barrel it was shorter by about 1/2 inch to an inch in stature compared to my 16 inch carbine.

It's finish is very good and overall quality is excellent. Underneath the handguards it is a pencil thin govt profile. Also of note is that since it lacks locking lugs is that when the bolt group slams home the receiver noise is less than a 5.56 ar15. I guess you would say it echos less sound than a rotating bolt.

It weighs a fair deal, and I thought it was a tad heavier than a 5.56 ar15.

Overall I am impressed and it just further spikes my interest in aquiring a 9mm rifle of my own. The quiet bolt group and availability of heavy gran 9mm ammo make me excited at the prospect of SBR ing and suppressing a 9mm AR15 down the road.

I used to have a post ban OLY 9mm that was pretty sweet with a pair of 32 round modified Sten mags (definatly the way to go with the Oly system).
I've got the Ruger PC-9 now that's rugged and reliable, but with the AWB ending, a collapsable stock Oly 10mm with compensator sounds pretty good!
Be aware that the Oly system is very different than the Colt/RRA system when it comes to pistol caliber uppers.
AR15.com has a good explanation of the two systems.
