I've got a question .........

OK - So I caught my brain actually working today . . . . It was thinking. When I got home this evening - I couldn't find the answer to my question in any of my handy dandy CZ Manuals - Sooooo I'll ask YOU folks.

What is the exact type/nomenclature of the grip panel screw found on my CZ-75D PCR??? In other words - I hear sheet-metal metalbender types referring to some hardware as "quarter-twenty stainless steel hex bolt" and the like. Wellllll, how is our beloved CZ's grip panel screw technically referred to as? What's its thread count per inch? What's its diameter? What's the shoulder pitch?

I ask cuz I've seen people posting ( I think on THR ) about trying to buy grip screw replacements for their pistols. They were trying to get an equivalent from say Lowe’s or Home Depot. What would one buy if one wanted to do the same for the CZ?

Just curious.

Thanks!

I lost a grip screw from my CZ-75BD a few years ago. I took the other one to work and matched it by trial and error with a screw from our stock room.
IIRC, it was a 4 mm. (Don't quote me on that.) Standard bolt sizes use 2 numbers. A 1/4x20 screw means the shank is 1/4 of an inch in diameter and there are 20 threads per inch. I don't know if metric sizes use the same system. I'll try to find out tommorow at work.

Every metric screw thread I have used have just been the diameter and either fine or coarse threads.

For replacing CZ grip screws I just use Ruger Mark II hex head grip screws. I've heard that they aren't an exact match but close enough to work very well. I have them on most of my CZs now and they look and work great. you can get them in 4-packs from Brownells and I think J&G Sales.

Gary,

We did disscuss that on CZforum at one time. We also discovered what the actuall screw was. I took mine from my P-01(same screw as PCR) to the local 'Do It Best' (my wife works there). They said that it was close to what they had but it was just different enough that it would mess the threads up. I will look and see if I can find that thread(no pun intended) on CZforum.

edited to add: The screw size is 3.5mm x8mm The thread can be found

Id ask Mike the CZ gusnsmith if he has the spec on that gripscrew for a hex head replacement; it would be a much nicer than the stock screw
