Scope base suggestions

Fella's;

I recently bought a 'thumper' caliber Tikka. I've put a fairly large/heavy scope on it, a Leupold Vari-X III 50mm. Due to some vision problems, going to another scope is not a good option.

I've mounted the scope in the Burris bases that they make for the Tikka & had some problems with things moving around. The bases are of the dovetail front, windage adjustable rear type.

I refuse to pay Beretta's price for the optima mounts, I'd rather weld. Does anybody know of a double dovetail set of bases for the current Tikka's?

Thanks, 900F

Try the Weaver Grand Slam bases. They're steel, take weaver style rings and should be pretty stable on your thumper. The part number is S61. Same base for front and rear. Tighten them good using loctite.
Good Luck!
