American Rifleman TV

Is it just me, or is the American Rifleman TV show so bad its embarrassing?

I was watching it last night and saw a between-features video clip that shows a shooter with his finger on the trigger as he's sitting down to bench test a snubbie.

After this intro, they discussed the Lady Smith and showed a lady (trying) to shoot it. Trigger pull was so horrendous that her hands were shaking with the effort. She was shooting plates: I only heard one hit. In another poorly edited section, you could see her give up in the attempt to squeeze off a round and start to lower the weapon before they cut the scene (watch the part after the draw from the purse, having a Tivo with rewind helps). They then went on to praise this gun as ideal for ladies.

They also showed off the Kimber 84 in 308 and the shooter was having a hard time manipulating the bolt. They then praised the gun for its 1.5" groups.

And in between these, we get to watch a host bounce around in front of the camera like a five-year-old in bad need of a potty break.

I know, its a video magazine, what else should I expect? I expect some level of professionalism and a modicum of integrity. I expect these guys to be smart enough to realize that being good behind a typewriter does not mean you belong in front of a camera. I expect an organization as well funded as the NRA to put on a program that is at least as well executed as the superb American Shooter (or even their own print publication).

AR TV is kinda like Alias (and DareDevil). If it weren't for the scenery, it would be a waste of bandwidth.

I had Outdoor Channel added a la carte to get AR, and I was expecting so much more...

At least Gary James is there. He's one of my favorite writers, and his contributions to "Tales of the Gun" and "American Shooter" are fantastic....

And would someone PLEASE tell the guy who does the "I Have This Old Gun" voiceover to BACK OFF THE MICROPHONE A LITTLE...:what:

Could be better, but I'm glad it's there. Now, if they would watch AS for some pointers...:D

They are also having a problem with lighting, but I will still watch it.
