"The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed -- where the government refuses to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once." -- Justice Alex Kozinski, US 9th Circuit Court, 2003

It's even reasonably current... what a 'radical' idea for a member of the government to have... ;-)

"A judge in the 9th Circus said THAT?"

My reaction, exactly. How can a court that is famous around the nation for pin-headed thinking have members who come up with something like this?

Maybe it's the closing of the circle. They've gone so far around that (at least a few) are coming back to the original 'radical' ideas the country was founded on?

I did a little research. The quote can be found on page 5 here notabug.com/kozinski/silveira_v_lockyer (http://notabug.com/kozinski/silveira_v_lockyer)
I like knowing that quotes attributed to people are real.
