i have a 12guage nova with a rifled barrel and i am looking for reasonable scope for the upcoming deer season ($300ish) the area i hunt the most i can use is a 2.5..... any ideas

I've had scopes on shotguns that ranged from excellent, (Weaver, Leopold) to junk. The junk includes one Simmons, now mounted on a 22.

IMO, most folks are better off with a peep sight. But, if you insist on glass, stick to the main brands. Leopolds seem expensive until the Moment of Truth, then they are worth every penny.
