I saw an IMBEL made FAL for $450 with three mags, used in very good condition. Is this a good price or high?

I'm in the NE area of the country.

You sure it's an IMBEL "made" FAL and not just an IMBEL receiver? Most of the Century Arms FALs have IMBEL receivers. If so, $450 is about the going rate for a "new" one from Century...if used it's too high. If it is a kit built rifle, I'd want to know who built it.

If it's actually a genuine IMBEL you'd better buy it before I fly there to get it...but I doubt it is.

Look for the actual manufacturer's mark, not just the receiver name.

It's genuine IMBEL. I checked, asked, and smiled.

Again, it's been used, but is in very good condition... has had upwards of 500 rounds put through it apparently, but looks like a safe queen otherwise.

Check the headspace and barrel timing while you're pulling the money out of your wallet to buy it.

I'll take 2, please, at that price.

Good find!

Uh... :D :D

I know what headspace is and how to check it with gauges, but barrel timing?

I'll be buying it on Monday, most likely. :D

IMBEL receivers are considered to be very good. And an awful lot of IMBEL parts kits were imported. Lots of guys assembled the two in their own workshop or garage. Depending on who did the work, when they did the work (sec 922(r) comes into play) and whether or not the parts are ALL Imbel or if some are domestic origin, has a lot of bearing on the rifle's legality.

I don't remember reading about IMBEL importing complete rifles . . . you might check with the guys at falfiles.com for more info.

$450 for a properly-built FAL on an IMBEL receiver sounds good to me.

Imbel receivers are good, and fairly common.

I will find a hat to eat if Imbel made the whole rifle, and it's selling for $450.

I saw a (used) Century import on Imbel receiver go for $300 at a gun show two weeks ago, but that was a smoking deal. If I'd had the cash, I would've plunked down $350 as quickly as I could.
