Looking at a compact in 9mm for primary ccw.just wondering what you guys thought or if there is another gun comprable for less or with less felt recoil and so on. Thanks for your time and thoughts guys and girls.

Honestly, I'd go with Glock. The HK's are excellent guns, but the less felt recoil and their accuracy over Glocks are minimal, especially when you consider how there are tons of relatively inexpensive aftermarket parts and accessories for Glocks that can get them to have greater accuracy such as barrels and lighter triggers.

Also, Glocks are smaller, do not have a manual safety, have higher capacity magazines, and are less expensive. Also, the Glocks have better and less expensive magazines than the HK's. You can find Glock mags for $20-25 compared to $50-60 for HK.

For instance, a .45 USP Compact holds 8 rounds. A Glock 30 holds 10 rounds and is smaller and about $200-400 cheaper.

Trust me, I was torn between HK and Glock. I went with Glock and am glad that I did so. HK's are nice, but you get more with Glock.

Thanks for the advice I know a safety is a “mechanical device that can fail” but I find comfort in a manual safety. I was looking at glock for a while too, thanks for the advice.

IMHO the best polymer pistol on the market bar none. I have one in 357 sig and have shot one in 40 and 9mm. The only pistol I like more is my 1911s. Just a side not if you decide to purchase one they seem to like heavy bullets.

The S&W M&P compact model is about the same size and capacity and can be ordered with a manual safety. Two hundred bucks less doesn't hurt, either. ;)

If everything about a Glock appeals to you except for the lack of a manual safety you can have one added and still pay loads less than a USP out the door.

Thanks airman I didn't know that, that gets me right back into glocks. I learn something new everyday (probablÝ because I don't know much)

The problem I have with glocks and why I like the HK, FN, and Sig pistols better is the striker. Call me crazy but I like DA/SA with a hammer over a striker fired pistol anyday.

If you like the HK USP compact they are excellent pistols BTW, check out the HK P30. The HK P30 has the best ergonomics of any double column magazine 9mm designed to date.

Thanks for all the responses guess the autoloaders are a pretty active group, thanks guys and girls

I have the USP Compact in 40 SW. It is lighter than any of my Sigs which I still like better. I like guns with safety's, hammers and decockers. I have several striker fired guns but still like hammers better. If you wany a real nice, light alloy gun with safety and hammer look at the CZ 75D PCR compact. If you want a polymer gun the CZ P07 Duty is a great gun. I'd take them over the Glock any day, but that's me.

You can find a slightly used HK USP40c or USP9c all day long for $550 - $650. Best bang for the buck IMHO. Great guns!

Glock 19 is cheaper, just as reliable, equal capacity, and is considered by many to be the best all around CCW on the market. A new G19 is alot cheaper than a new USP, a new G19 is even cheaper than a used USP. G19 all day every day for me, even if they were the same price.

A USPc with a LEM trigger is more preferable to me over a Glock.

I have carried both in identical style holsters. They carry equally well and are almost equal in size.

Buy the one that fits your hand best and has the trigger you like most.

i love my uspc .40 it fits my hand like a glove....i have owned 2 glocks and 2 xds and 4 1911's and my hk uspc .40 fits my hand the best and i shoot it just has good as i did my les baer trs
