Does anyone have a Stoeger Cougar in 45 ACP?

I have a Stoeger Cougar in 40 and loved it very much. I was about to buy the Cougar in .45 when I found out that it only held 8+1 for such a "large" pistol grip. I already have a Sig P220 and Taurus PT1911 I use for carry and didn't think that the Cougar would be much different.

I have looked the Stoegers over quite a bit, and I am impressed. I have a couple of Glocks, and I have gotten away from 45acp to try and trim down from having too many different calibers. It became quite clear during the ammo shortage, that 9mm was the goto ammo for the future.

I have been very tempted to pick up one of the Cougars in 9mm.

I bought my Stoeger Cougar 8045 back in the first of August. Excellent pistol. I also have it in a 9mm. The .45 looks identical to to 9mm except for the rail, although its very slightly bigger in almost every dimension, grip, overall length, and thickness but not enough to really matter. Excellent quality, very soft shooting, accurate, and no failures of any type yet. IMHO the Stoeger Cougars are the best buy for the money going today.

The Cougar I had was VERY accurate. The operation was smooth and I liked it. I hope the 45 ACP Cougar will be just as good.

I wouldn't discount the .45 because everyone freaked out and bought up all the 9mm ammo.

I have owned plenty of 45's and I am not discounting anything. I made a choice for "Me" and that choice was to eliminate 45 acp from my arsenal. I am using only 9mm for my pistol ammo choice, and Glocks are my goto guns. Although the Stoeger looks like a nice weapon for the price and I have been considering buying one.

9mm ammo can literally be obtained in every country on the planet (heck, they may even use it in other star systems) 45 acp on the other hand, does not enjoy quite the universality of the 9mm round. Plus, I can buy 9mm ammo for half what the same brand in 45 costs. 9mm was abundant during the peak of the shortage in my area, with plenty of choices in both range and defensive ammo. 45 acp on the othet hand was much harder to come by, and very little to choose from.

100% agree with labhound's post. I also had the 8000. It was flawless through 2300+ rds fired. I traded it for the 8045 & it is every bit as excellent as the 8000. You simply cannot get a better quality firearm than the Stoeger/ Beretta Cougar series for the money.

I have a Beretta Mini Cougar 8045 and love it. This is my daily carry piece that I have absolute faith in. This is the only gun I can say has never failed to load a round out of the magazine or eject a case. I think it has less felt recoil than my Sig P220. I probably have 3,000 rounds conservatively through mine. This one will be with me for a long time.
