I saw this little pistol in the Pawn shop the other day. It was sitting on the desk behind the counter and had not been priced to put out for sale.
I talked to the store Mgr. and he said that he was not sure what he was going to price it for.
I contacted a friend to get some ifno on the pistol and see what they were worth.
It was the official sidearm of the French military from 1937 until 1950.

Today I stopped by the shop and the Mgr said that I could have it for $250 out the door. Well I didn't even ask for a better price, I just bought it.

Now I need to order some ammo and take it to the range.

I have one just like it that I bought about 17 years ago. Nice, soft shooting, all steel pistol in an obsolete caliber (7.65 French Longue). I reload for mine using reformed shells and either .30 Mauser or .30 Luger bullets.

It seems the Sig P210 had some influences from it.

I've got a WWII nazi occupied production 1935A. It has a letter B in front of the serial number. It's really hard to read, but it looks like yours is a H which would be a much later production run.

Good luck finding ammo. This place sells ammo made from 32 S&W cases: http://www.buffaloarms.com/French_Mas_Ammunition_it-158128.aspx?CAT=4451 You can also shoot 32ACP out of them, but it's not powerful enough to cycle the slide. I'm thinking about buying some correct brass to reload for it, but am currently using 32ACP brass with the bullet seated as far out as possible and just enough powder to cycle the slide.

In a way. I load the bullets long to keep the pressure down and so they can't chamber in a 32. The ammo chronographs at 970 fps with a 80 grain bullet, so it's not that much hotter.

Dale, Was I right? Is that an A in front of the SN#? I'm really not sure, but for the price, I couldn't pass it up. :mrgreen:

The ammo you have. is it French or new stuff?

Ammo is French. I have some OWS California loaded 7,65 Longue, but the idiots used soft nose half jacketed bullets , so they won't feed in either the 35 A or 35 S pistols..Dangerous Dave was a great maker and seller of ammo, but every now and then he slipped up and did something like this! :violin:

I would have just given the two full boxes to you when you visited if I had known you would need it....I have 2000+ rounds of the French Ammo here....most of it still goes bang....some takes two hits to fire...

That's awesome that it's an A code. The stupid script font they used is so hard to read. I really wanted to get an A code, but ended up finding a B code which oddly enough was more expensive since the nazis used it. Congratulations on finding one that cheap.
