Ok, so I have made the plunge and have purchased a reciever and lower kit from a great company....... Bison Armory (a leader in the 6.8 world)

So.... My questions are about tactical lights

I am building this rifle with 100% american made products.

So.... For a tactical light, what would you recommend?

(no chinese made, as I Take seriously keeping manufacturing jobs here, and try to support the usa where ever possible)

I will also use this for hunting at night (legal in Texas for Boar) so I will be using a red filter

It will need to mount on the rifle rail

Thoughts?

I have looked at the Surefire G2X, but want to make sure I am not missing one

I would like to stay under $125

Surefire makes nice lights, but are you sure that the pcbs and LEDs used on those lights are manufactured in the U.S.?

Thanks mist.. Is that stable?

The surefire states USA made..... So I assumed it was made in America.

Unfortunately the claims of "Made in USA" anymore is a bit gray. Manufactures do not have to provide % of parts that are made here vs. elsewhere. As long a the "majority" of parts are made here then it could be branded as such. It could be "assembled" here and also claimed "Made in USA" as well.

I will take a high percentage of "american made" and a USA company vs. 100% made in Asia.

To save 15% we are selling out our own economy, and putting someone else to work while 30 percent plus of our workforce is either unemployed or underemployed.

We dont highly publicize the constant industrial espionage coming from this country because they
Own so much of our debt..... But we will pay for it in the long run

Our economy cannot run on paper hat jobs

Anyway, sorry for the rant.

I believe that we still have many great firearms related product still produced in the USA, and I intend to always support them where I can

Also another question for Mist.

How do you turn on the light? Do you have a seperate cable?

I want something that I can mount right behind a vertical grip and turn on, without moving my hand off the grip

On my work gun I run a Surefire x300. I have an SBR that has the G2X in an offset mount. I've had bad luck with cables and tape switches; both of mine are mounted where my thumb can activate without moving my support hand.

Not mine, but this is similar to how my X300 is mounted:

I keep my hand all the way down the tube, and can easily activate the light.

I like an under or over the barrel light, keeping as slim of a profile as possible. I use the ElZetta on everything with a standard front sight base. Been using them for years, never had one fail, so I keep using and recommending them.

The Surefire has a switch at the rear that's a lever that sticks out a little on either side. All I have to do is reach up with my thumb from either side and push the lever up or down to turn it on, or push it forward for momentary use.

There is a version of the Midnight Mount that may be used with a light utilizing a remote cable. A link

Very stable. Also heat form the FSB doesn't bother it. I fired close to 500 rounds in one afternoon and the FSB got so hot as to burn a careless hand and steam water

Thats a nice set up but my BUIS will be flip ups from the rail so I am planning to use a side rail for the light
