Savage Mark II and Marlin 880 question

My Savage Mark II has an ongoing problem in which the "accutrigger" locks up. Problem started about 1.5 years ago, and has gotten much worse lately. I often have to re-cock the gun a few times in order to get a round off. Anyone know what needs to be fixed or adjusted?

Someone at my local range had a Marlin 880 - very smooth with a nice short throw. They don't seem too common - there is exactly one on Gunbroker.com, and it's going for about $190 incl shipping.
Is this a reasonable price for a used Marlin? Are they generally considered good rifles?
 
I bought my first .22 lr rifle in 1999 at walmart. Its the Marlin 880 sq for $220 otd. I still have it with me . THe rifle is very accurate with any ammo brand. A friend helped me many years ago in lightening the trigger by cutting the coil spring enough to lighten the trigger break. It still is very safe. Shot almost 10 000 rds into it for many years and remains very accurate rifle.


As to the accutrigger, how about calling Savage and had it fixed. Or buy a new accutrigger group , saves you the money ...

Thanks for the feedback/reply. I see exactly one Marlin 880 going for about $190, shipped on gunbroker - used, with synthetic stock.

As for the Savage, I called their Cust Service line a few days after posting my question, and they felt it was a worn sear, and said that most likely they would fix it for free.
 
I had exactly the same issue. The trigger pull has been adjusted too light.

To adjust you need to remove the action from the stock and adjust the trigger pull adjustment spring to apply more tension If you have the Accutrigger adjustment tool it is pushed into the adjustment hole and turned in the appropriate direction.
 
What s the factory setting on the accutrigger? 4 lb pull? If so, i ll leave it at that.
