I found a 31-1 in really nice shape for $275. I think I'm going to get it. I wasn't really looking for a .32 S&W Long, but I already have a .32 H&R mag, and some .32 Long brass, bullets, and dies.

So you're telling me that (at today's prices) you got two totally obsolete boat anchor guns for $1550 (assuming $2.00/rd for .223 and $100/pmag)?

Them ain't boat anchors. In skilled hands you should prevail. I especially like the 28; am now waiting for a good Registered Magnum to turn up for a trade.

Gotta agree. The last couple of months I've been able to get a Single-Six in 32 mag (NIB), a Taurus 66 357 and a Taurus 82 in 38 special. The Tauri were used but looked new. They all shoot a lot better than I do. The cost for all three was less than a decent semi-auto and some ammo. By the way, the triggers on the Tauri are as good as most S&Ws I handled, except for the K-38and K-22.

And I don't have to pick up brass from the ground!

I picked up a LNIB Single Six .32 H&R for $195 in 2007.
I think I need to pick up the 31-1. It could use lighter springs, though. The trigger is smooth, but heavy.
I know I can't go much lighter on the hammer spring. Thinking about getting a Wolff spring kit.

I NEVER paid near 2.00 per round of 5.56

And not even close to 100.00 for a mag no matter who made it.

I see his trade as amazing and would gladly pay him back the ammo & mags he paid for those beautys.

I would never pay $2 a round for ammo, nor $100 for a $13 mag. If you do, yer gettin humped.
I never paid more than $14 for any Jammamatic 15 mag. $13/PMag, $8/Thermold, $8/Unissued Mil mags.
Even at those prices, I felt they were grossly overpriced.

This shortage and the high prices are self-induced. The sooner everyone refuses to pay prices that are too high the sooner the prices will drop.

A buddy of mine went to a recent fun show. He found a 120 round pack of cheap Russian 7.62x39 ammo and asked the lady at the booth "How much?" The lady said "120".
Buddy said "I know how many rounds there are. What's the price?"
Lady said,"$120."
Buddy said "You're out of your damned mind!", put the ammo down and walked off.
He bought his ammo MUCH cheaper, somewhere else.
I remember when fun shows were havens of good prices. Now, they're full of money-grubbing dealers looking to take advantage of any excuse to rip people off.

This, boys and girls, is why you buy your guns/gear/ammo first, and worry about expensive "keep up with the Joneses" electronics later.

I'd take those two "boat anchors", gladly. Having something that's not on some self serving politician's (am I being redundant?) ban list is a good thing.

EVERYTHING is on some politicians ban list. That' s why everything including bolt guns, single- shots and revolvers are going up. Primers and even brass.
I think some things will go down eventually, but this is a good lesson in just how quick things can change.

Thought they were "Eddie Bauer" editions for a minute there....

I've found myself returning to revolver mindset lately, what with the hubbub over "evil" guns....

While everyone was gobbling up anything with a magazine, I rescued these two. The 68 vintage Single Six a few weeks back, and this factory polished Redhawk with the factory box, lock, paperwork and original shipping carton with the GKRH-445 marked factory shipping box.
Both were even trades for other stuff I had that were collecting dust.

I saved this Model 24-3 (including Nill grips) recently. It was sitting next to a Model 57 with lock. The rest of case and most of the store was empty.
