1911 magazines question

Any 1911 owners have experience with Chip McCormick 10-round Power Mags?

I can get them at the BX for $3 less than their on-line list price (and no shipping), and they have a bunch of them. (And pretty much out of anything else ight now.)

I have two of the CM 8-round Classic mags (with 4 more on back-order) which work great, so I'm strongly tempted to get some of the 10's, pending reports of other's experience. Thanks in advance!
 
I don't use mine much because I don't really like mags that hang below the frame, but they've worked fine in my 5" pistols, but they've not been 100% in my 4" pistols as the springs may not be quite strong enough for the faster cycling.
 
I also don't care for the mag sticking out the bottom of my 1911.
 
I had some CMC 8-round mags. The split follower would tip forward and gouge the feed ramp on my Colt. Got rid of them.
 
Thanks to all, I'm hearing almost all good reviews.

Will go to the BX tomorrow and do a test-fit in a display gun to see if the overhang is too off-putting for my sense of asthetics.

How long ago was this? I just tried to make one of my CM 8-rounders do that, but it won't. Maybe they've been re-designed since then? Or maybe it's just this particular gun.... Previous owner had work done to the feed-ramp, but I don't have an unaltered one to compare to.

That is the common knock on the Devel follower used in Chip McCormick mags. They've been doing it for years. However, the only really problem is with aluminum frames/feed ramps. The follower can tip forward all day and you won't get any problems on a steel feed ramp.

McCormick even came up with the PowerMag + follower to prevent damage to aluminum frames.

I don't have any aluminum framed guns, so I've not used the PowerMag +.

Interestingly, the Devel follower was also used in the Ruger P-Series pistols in .45 ACP. All of those had either a polymer frame (P97, P345) or aluminum frame (P90). The Devel follower was known to kick forward and ding the frames of all of those pistols, but since all three have integrated feed ramps with their stainless steel barrels, the damage was merely cosmetic.

Well, to be fair, my 1911 is also my carry gun, and if they stick out too far, CC gets a little problematic. (Although I normally OC here in Arizona and when I go to Utah.)

Anyway, I went, I checked, I bought 4 of them. So neener, neener...

They do stick out quite a way, but I figured if it comes to CC, I can carry with a 7 or 8-rounder in the gun, and 2 10's in the mag-holder on my belt. And sometimes I have another one in my rear pocket.

Range test later this week, if my schedule works out, otherwise Saturday or Sunday.
