I really did it now. I put a remington 770 up for trade, and got a gen 3 glock 17 for it ( i think i made out pretty well).. Anyways, I'm upset, because up until now, I've avoided glock, because im not really a "flavor of the decade" kind of guy. But I gotta say, I love this gun. And I hate myself for it. Anyways... As you can see, while it is a glock, its been modified quite a bit. There's some kind of beavertail attatchment ive never seen. but it changes the grip angle quite a bit so its not so glock-y, Also its had the finger grooves filed down, and replaced with grip tape (which i actually like), and the orig barrel has been replaced with a lone wolf threaded barrel... theres a cheap compensator on there, though its only purpose is really to protect the threads... I liked this gun because eventually im going to get a 9mm suppressor. Figures I'd share with you guys.

I hate Glocks but you did get a steal on that trade. Rem 770 is a downright awful rifle. When I was trying to sell mine I thought I was going have to pay someone to take it off my hands because no one wants them.
 
Wow, someone must have had a powerful need to hunt to agree to that trade, I think it's safe to say you came out on top.

At one time, I too had a very similar sentiment towards Glocks... Even though Glocks were incredibly popular, I tended to spout kernels of "wisdom" such as: "why in the world would I buy a Block when I can pick up a CZ 75 for about the same price". Then one day a couple of years ago I went to a range to try out a Kahr CW9 (I was certain I would buy one). On a lark I decided to rent the range's G19.... While the CW9 shot well, the ragged hole chewed in the center of my G19's target told me in no uncertain terms that I needed to grab the closest cup of Glock-aide and throw it back. The rest is history, While the CZ 75 has moved on to other adventures with other owners, my Glocks are steadily multiplying.

In short you made a great trade, but don't be surprised when your lone Glock starts multiplying..

its also appears to have had a grip reduction..
 
Not a Glock fan but if I ever had the misfortune of owning a 770 I would trade it for a Glock in a heartbeat.

I dont think the glock will start multiplying... MAYBE i would get a 19, MAYBE!, but as far as handguns go, Im more into 9mm. Im thinking about getting one of those thingamadoohikies that turns your glock into a carbine though....

anyone with thoughts on that?

I had to check out your post due to the heading "dadgummit" as it reminded me of an OLD TIMER Gabby Hayes,and unless your over 60 I doubt you know who I mean.

As to the Glock,I too said I would NEVER buy or own a plastic gun,that was SIX Glocks ago.

I own and carry one as an EDC at least 95% of the time,there are many others to fill in that 5%.

I think you did very well and I envy your RIGHT to get a 'can' for it as my nanny state [ NY ] is one of the VERY few that do not allow us to own what free men do.

just read your last missive and I bought one of those doohickies that turn it into a carbine.

They are VERY interesting as you have many options if using your lower as to caliber,you can buy the upper for a .40S&W or a 9MM,as they are compatable.

I use a .40S&W caliber and I am sorry I went with it as I would have prefered a .45 ACP or the 9MM.

btw --- the upper is HEAVY.
 
I'm not a "glock fanboy" but I do really appreciate how fun they are to shoot. As far as the blocky, ugly Glock look people describe - I only really see that on the large frame (.45, 10mm) models. I think the Glock 17 (and 19 if you go .40) is just the right size to be comfortable, big enough, and not ugly. Plus like I already said... they're tons of fun to just take to the range and run a few boxes of FMJ through.
