I picked this Remington model 11-48 up for $100 a few weeks back. The stock had 4 major cracks and a chunk of wood missing right at the tang. The forearm was cracked likewise and missing a huge piece, I deemed neither repairable for a gun I was going to keep.
The 11-48 shotgun replaced the humpback Model 11, it is still a recoil operating shotgun, basically the same great John Browning design but placed in a sleeker reciever. I will post pics as the project progresses, lets start with wood work prior to rebluing.
I found this stock online advertised as a broken rifle stock for $37. I think from the cut checkering and phenomenal grain it was originally from a skeet or trap version. I am adding a custom case hardened grip cap and a vintage pachmyr recoil pad.
First up, the original stock:

Dang! Pretty stock! I love my 20 ga. 11-48 (actually Sportsman 48, same thing in "plain"). Can't wait to see it done!

The replacement forearm came in today, only able to get two coats of finish on the stock since last post due to work and super high humidity slowing drying time.

Only two coats in:

DONE!

We are finally done !
New firing pin came in and finally got everything put back together and fired for function, ran flawlessly. All in all original purchase price + new stock + new forearm - $50 for original stock set sale I am in this one the way it sits for $175.
I hope my 3 month old son Jackson will like it when he gets older.

Being a full choke, I am thinking about taking it turkey hunting next spring depending on how it patterns, wanting to take a Tom with all my restored shotguns (Ithaca and Model 11 Remington I restored last year):

Fantastic job! You posted in my thread about the model 11 and wow, you're welcome to borrow my "new" Stevens 520 takedown lol

I've been looking for one one those for a while now (the 520).
As for your stock it can be epoxied and refinished or I see stocks and
forearms for it pop up all the time on ebay.
