Moderator, please terminate this thread. I can already tell it will be unhealthy for my wallet.

TennJed -- I sure hope you are in an open carry state! It would be a shame to have these beautiful holsters and have to conceal them.

BTW -- how does it feel being PETA's worst nightmare? :D

Is there such a condition as "holster envy"? I see, and look, and drool, but with a fixed income these are on my wish list that keeps getting longer rather than shorter. (sigh someday). I really want nice leather for the 1911 I just got. I have a question for those with exotic skins for IWB or pocket carry. Is it just for pride of ownership (i can relate to that) or is there a practical reason for a different type of leather on a holster that never gets seen? Do different leathers offer functions other than looks for "hidden use"? Just wondering?

This is what happens when you realize you have all the guns you "need". You start looking for things to wrap them in :)

Not really, some of the skins such as shark, elephant and beaver tail are VERY tough and I guess in theroy could out last leather, but I am not sure it would make enough of a difference to justify the price increase on that alone. I get them because I enjoy the way they look and like the uniqueness of it. I also have Cowboy Boots in Elephant, Ostrich, Cape Buffalo, and Spanish Bull so it is just something I like. \

And yes they are typically concealed, so I am the only one that gets to see this, but let me pose this question. Do you decorate the bathroom in your bedroom? Most master bedroom bathroom are not seen by people other than the owners. Sorta the same thing

Ah, TennJed, you are reminding me that I've meant to order an elephant-hide holster for years and never gotten around to it. Thank you for the motivation. I had a sharkskin-trimmed IWB that I loved, sadly, traded it off with the gun ... Now I need something in shark again!

Right now, horsehide is as exotic as I roll ... Beaver tail and bullfrog available now? Wow, I gotta get out more.

I can't see supporting the use of Elephant skin , it's no different than the ivory trade .
The problem is with people that create the market. Unethical.

So no elephants are taken legally, nor do any die of natural causes, right?

Then i would suggest you not buy elephant. Me, i have no problem with it. The Convention of International Treaty of Endangered Species (CITES) allows for legal elephant harvesting. ALL THESE ARE LEGAL. Typically the hides come from elephants culled when they start to pose a danger to local tribes and their villages. Although i doubt facts matter much to you, emotion seems to work fine

I almost wish i was a girl so i could get me a pink stingray. Nice stuff zero

Somebody has got to post where they got these holsters.

I have shark, caiman, and ostrich boots. I would love to get matching belts and holsters for each of those boots. More for pride of ownership, since they would still be carried concealed.

This guy can make holsters in shark, ostrich, and others. Not sure about caiman.

I got that link from another member on here from a thread I started about exotic holsters. I think my next one will be from him, just have to decide which type, to many to choose from. I like the tengu lizard, cape buffalo, and tiger shark a lot.

I have used a few (and have been happy with them) but my favorite and most of what I posted here come from MTR

http://mtrcustomleather.com/shop/

They don't list the exotics on the website, what you do if find a holster style you like that they make on their website and then contact about what exotic skin you are wanting anf they will give you a quote. The Dual hoster they offer is great. You can carry IWB or remove the clips for OWB
