Just got a brand-spankin'-new .30 Carbine Blackhawk as a replacement for one I sent in for repair.

They've already sent me a new ejector rod (one for .30 Carbine Blackhawk).

But NOW another problem: the small pin in the rear sight keeps coming out when shooting.

Do I need to call Ruger or is there a solution short of that?

A gunsmith on another site suggested:

Loctite Threadlocker 222 is a low strength, noncorrosive purple threadlocker designed for fasteners under 1⁄4" (6 mm) that require occasional adjustment. Removable with hand tools for easy disassembly. Typical applications include carburetors, relay locks, headlamps, throttle body assembly, choke assembly and fuel injection set screws, body panel mounting fasteners.

If the pin easily comes all the way out, lay it on a steel surface and give it a SLIGHT tap with a brass hammer. Then insert and tap into place.

Looked at an explosion diagram of the Blackhawk and the pin in question is the: Rear Sight Pivot Pin.

From Kyle @ Ruger:

I would not recommend using thread locker or Loctite on any of our firearms. I would recommend contacting our Customer Service department at 336-949-5200 to create an RMA for your firearm.

If a replacement cross pin did not work then our next step would be to evaluate the firearm.

I had this same issue with my GP-100. Per someone else's suggestion I placed an ever so slight bend in the pin so it was no longer straight and the pin has yet to move.

Arkansas Paul, I'm afraid I can take one of my wife's sewing needles and easily push the pin left and right.

Push it abut halfway out, tap it slightly with small hammer to put slight bend in it, and drive it back in. Last one I did was in the early 90s, it hasn't moved yet. Sight works fine.

after i put the rough country sight on my 7 1/2 44 magnum i was able to hit my 10" Gong
at 100 yards the white outline helped me a lot I also put the same sights on my 4 5/8 41 magnum
if you shoot the same load I would recommend them I have not used the Target style rear sight
just so you know the first set of sights took about 10 week's to get The second set in 8 days
was well worth the weight for me
