In my search for a small carry gun I've now gone through both a PT709 Slim and a TCP. Initally I thought well of them but they both developed issues where they would not fire. I'm not going to bash the "Bull" but for me personally, I'm done with the brand.

Moving on, I picked up a LC9s yesterday in hopes that stepping up in price/brand might result in better reliability. I went and put about 100rds through it today with zero issues whatsoever. First impressions are I like this gun, A LOT. Wonderful trigger and the build quality seems on another level compared to the Taurus' I had.

Both targets were at 35ft. First one was slow shooting taking my time and getting familiar with it. First shots were the middle group, second shots were bottom groups and top groups were last. the X's were POA.

Second target I realized my hour was closing fast so I just shot almost as fast as I could since my main goal was to just get rounds through the gun for reliability. I was happy just to get all shots on the paper.

Hopefully this gun will be as reliable as all the hype out there claims.

I like Ruger revolvers but I haven't been able to get into their semis. I've got the Glock 19 and 26 and recently acquired the H&K p2000sk. I love the feel of the H&Ks and will be getting the p30sk and the full size USP 9mm. I'm glad your purchase worked out well for you, it's important to enjoy shooting the gun you're going to depend on.

I have a regular LC9, not the s model. Works very well and I see me keeping it for years to come. I think the Ruger is fine pistol for concealed carry; very reliable and quite accurate for the role it was built for. I think you will be happy with the LC9s.

Same as CajunBass here
Summertime in shorts, the LCP in a pocket
with a Florida Shirt, or winter time its the LC9s
38 LCRX was my primary and still is some day, but mostly I am now carrying one of the other two.

Go figure, you can teach an old dog :)

Son has the lc9s pro and loves it for EDC. As you note, the trigger is excellent. Enjoy!

. . . and it is easy to carry in a Sticky pocket holster. You can’t shoot what you didn’t bring with you.

I bought my girlfriend one. Unfortunately it is having issues with magazine ejection. The magazine moves to the right when you depress the button and then the follower slips off the slide release, and pops up. It leaves you having to pull the magazine out. Otherwise its been pretty good. Still trying to resolve the issue with Ruger.

I would give the Pro another try as I had the lcp with the hammer and laser when it first came out 7 or so yrs ago, and was made like crap. It still shot straight and I could stay in the black out to 25 yards. Most in the 7-10 ring with the laser, but the trigger was the worse I ever had, and I called them on it and was told by a tech, that the gun would seize under heavy use so instead of re engineering the thing they just let 1/4 inch of slop in it to cure the problem. But the gun worked until I put one of those fancy $125 dollar trigger kits in it, then it would not reset about 10-20% of the time, so I dumped it. I put the old trigger back in and traded it for something with the new trigger thrown in. I didn't like the internals of the gun, it was all plastic and paper clips inside.
Not steel and glock like at all, the metal firing frame was rinky dink and the slide release just kind of slid in the side held by the trigger return spring, real junk, but it shot if you didn't mind the wobble. That was the old one, I haven't seen the inside of the stryker fired version.

I'm with others here and like the LC9s and much prefer it to the "Pro" version. The reason being the safety, on this size gun that may go in a pocket I want a safety. Also, the trigger is very light and I feel better with the safety. Treat it like one of my 1911's deactivate safety when presenting from holster.

I removed the silly magazine disconnect which was relatively easy.

I love my LC9s Pro! It gets lots of carry. Been 100% reliable so far and has one of the best triggers I have seen on a non-1911 pistol!

LC9s is with me all the time. Early I had issues with mags ejecting while holstered (a known issue). Ruger had the gun back to me in 4 days, no issues since.
The only negatives for me...I sweat a lot and the gun needs cleaning frequently to prevent corrosion. Also, takes a little extra effort to cleanly eject a full magazine. Empties drop readily, which is what really counts.
Mine is accurate, reliable, super trigger, pocket carries with nearly everything I wear, and didn't break my wife's bank account when she bought it for me.

My son had his slide and trigger coated with "titanium" GunKote because of the sweat/rust issue. Problem solved. He loves his lc9s pro!

I'm curious what you mean by this?

I hadn't heard of the mag release issue that some are referring to here. Anyone care to elaborate on that? I carried it IWB this past week and didn't have any issues.

A few years ago I moved from an XD40sc to an LCP for everyday carry, even w/o decent sights it seems to hit where I point it. I have since tried the LC9 but really hated the trigger. I have fondled but not shot an LC9S and it seems much improved. I have been casually shopping for the S-Pro but never find one in the display cases.

Sometimes the cartirdges will creep forward a bit in the magazine and top cartridge will rub against the front of the well. After loading if you gently tap the back of the loaded magazine on a desk/table top they will eject freely. Unfortunately, carrying all day must allow that top cartridge to migrate forward enough to re occur. Really isn't problem since empties drop readily. Even a loaded one, a little shake frees it. Maybe I'm the only one experiencing it but it occurs on all my mags.

Mags ejecting in the holster: this was some issue with the mag release apparently early in production. I'm sure later models were upgraded.

I havent had this issue at all.

Yeah, I think that was an issue that used to be related to the American-made magazines, but has since been addressed. Before it was fixed by Ruger, the workaround was to get the Italian-made mags, based on the online discussions I've read. I haven't had any issues, but I bought my LC9s Pro fall 2016, and I don't think they've been having those problems for a while.

I'd watch mine do the same thing with one mag with the slide off.

Call Ruger they will send a new mag and an envelope to ship the bad on back

I have used guns with a blued finish for carry. For me keeping them coated with Johnsons Paste Wax keeps them from rusting. rcmodel posted about this more than once if you care to search his posts.

All of my mags are made in Italy so maybe that is why I haven't experienced any problems?

Also since the thread was bumped, I've got 500+ rds through it of various ammo with not a single hiccup. I know it's not something to brag about on a carry gun but I still haven't cleaned it not once and it's still performing flawless. I will be giving it its first breakdown soon though.

Just this past weekend I shot at a friends farm. From 35 yards shooting at a silhouette I got 4 of the 5 rounds in the magazine on target. The 5th would've been considered a graze. I'm no dead eye and it's a small gun so I was impressed. I wouldn't have even attempted it if my buddy hadn't urged me to try. I normally practice with this gun at 7 yards or less.

It has become my regular CC and I have nothing but good things to say about it.

I will note since you mentioned it, and I've been carrying it a bit now, I noticed the other week some very light minor surface rust occurring on the sides of the trigger. Absolutely nothing on the slide or anywhere else.

I'm probably going to hit the edges of the trigger with some very high grit paper and put some oil on it. See how it does from there.
