    Merwin Hulbert & Co.

Thanks LightningMan - I'd love to find a first model frontier army with the long barrel that I could afford too. Mr. Young has some but I'm about 10-14 thou short.

    Merwin Hulbert & Co.

Merwin Hulbert revolvers - the originals - were beautifully and intrically designed - I own four of the large 44 cal frames and one 38 cal frame - 3 of these are engraved. I've never shot mine with black powder (or anything else) but I imagine that the incredibly close tolerences would gum-up...

    Remington model 8 and 81

I have had several model 8s over the years in 30, 32 and 35 Remington caliber. The 35 Rem cartridges are still being made, I think, but that cartridge in the model 8 always kicked the heck out of me. The only one that I have left is in 30 Rem and it's a honey. Nice old vintage rifle.

    M1 30-06 Garand vs. .30 Carbine

C-grunt, That's a great story. My dad was originally issued a Garand but since he was 6 ft tall and weighed 140 pounds soaking wet, he didn't enjoy lugging it around. So when he was promoted to corporal he somehow got a paratrooper carbine. He loved that carbine and spoke kindly about it...

    M1 30-06 Garand vs. .30 Carbine

I like both although I lean toward the Garand because i just shoot it well - I have an unmolested Rock-Ola - A genuine Inland Paratrooper like my dad used to carry in WWII as a glider-rider - you want light and easy to carry around then this is it. And an HRA Garand - that I...

the m1 IS a hell of a rifle

I love my M1 - it's a terrific rifle - sometimes at the range they'll be 3-4 of us shooting our Garands and the "pings" of the clips echo up and down the line makes me smile. My dad carried one for a while in WWII before he got promoted and got an M1 carbine. He liked the carbine for it's low...

Pacific Theater Guns (In Honor of the HBO Series, "THe Pacific")

Reising Model 50 - great on the practice ranges at home but problems in the salt water, sand and mud of the Pacific.

    Your favorite .380

I like the Remington 51 too - very easy gun to shoot accurately.

    winchester 1907

There is a Lyman mold #350319 that will produce an appropriate 180 gr bullet but it is hard to find. Some guys are sizing 357/38 bullets but I'm afraid that I don't know all the details and how many steps it takes. I haven't started reloading yet but I bought some lead cast .351 bullets - 175...

    winchester 1907

RSVP2RIP - I haven't used one for hunting but others have and all say that the round appears to hit alot harder than the paper ballistics suggest that it should. Good out to 100 yards. John

    winchester 1907

Any chance of seeing a photo of your 1907? I love these darn things - here are two of mine" a standard and a "Dillinger gun" (as originally made by Hyman Lebman) like those recovered when he was captured in Tucson in January of 1934.
