"I have always shot conicals in it and over the years the accuracy reduced and I switched to saboted pistol bullets." Probably leaded barrel.

    Question about nipples.

1&2 is the reason I switched. 3&4 came as an unexpected surprise. I do not have the numbers in front of me. However the lesser deviation on the chronograph compared to stock nipples was substantial. I gave a set to my shooting partner who is a quite good competitive shooter. His reply, "I...

    Question about nipples.

Reasons? 1. So the same nipple wrench/nut driver, that fits my ROA's fit my Italian guns. 2. So the same caps that fit my ROA's fit my Italian guns. 3. More consistent velocities. 4. Because of #3 you get tighter groups. 5. Reliability. Just a few reasons off the top of my head why I do it.

Pete, my experience with the vinegar was NOT in a US cleaner, Just a tub of hot water About 8oz of vinegar and a 30 minute soak. I had a raw steel ROA. My vinegar is now limited to cole slaw only. So not to hijack this thread I'll post about it sometime when I get a chance. As for painted...

Has anybody used an ultrasonic cleaner?

Use vinegar at your own risk. Do not ask me how I know. Also be aware any painted surfaces the ultra sonic cleaner will remove paint. I have the HF cleaner and it works ok, not overly impressed but it does work. Vinegar is used to remove bluing.
