kdmmcc, The base pin I received is just like the factory part. Loading lever attaches, etc. I double-checked with Kelye about three times just to make sure, as he does not have the standard, factory-style base pin on his website.

ROA Base Pin Replacement I got the ROA replacement base pin from Belt Mountain. It fits perfectly, and it is a quality replacement for the factory base pin. Kelye at Belt Mountain has these in both blued and stainless. He mentioned that he makes them himself. Price was just under $50. I'd...

I specifically asked for a replacement for the original factory part. I wonder what's going to show up in the mail.

For those wondering, Belt mountain has manufactured ROA base pins in both stainless and blued. My bent one is serviceable, but it will be good to have this one as well. Price was $49.95, which is less than some others I stumbled on, and probably more than others have paid.

I've started making phone calls to parts and machine shops. I think I want a backup either way. The base pin is surprisingly easy to bend. Here's how you do it: - Forget to turn the base pin retention bolt to the "closed" position after cleaning - Take a group of scouts shooting shortly...

All very helpful suggestions. The bend is not bad, and the gun works ok, but it's bent just the same. I'll try the gun garage.

I will for sure. It's looking like I might need to find a good machinist.

So, after years and years of happy shooting, I took a bunch of scouts out to shoot black powder. I was stressed to say the least, and I managed to bend my base pin by not securing the base pin latch. Does anyone have any idea where I can find a good stainless base pin for my "user" ROA? Both my...

First of all, those are three ladies. From left to right, Molly, Francesca Maria, and Sue. When they travel together, they tell most casual onlookers that they're cousins. Those who know them see two sisters and a friend.

I would love to chase piggies with a ROA! Where I live, there is precious little to be hunted with a BP revolver. I am regularly amazed at what happens to a lead ball when it hits a soft target in the neighborhood if 1000 fps.

    Remington Converson Blows Up

I second your opinion Joe. I have a buddy who is an "expert" in several disciplines, and after spending quite a bit of time with him, I have found out that he regularly overstates his exploits and overestimates his abilities. Consequently, I have chosen not to participate in certain activities...

Thinking of making my own lead

I worry a bit about lead poisoning myself. I did have to chuckle this week as I watched a MacGyver episode with my kids where some lady died from lead poisoning brought on by lead used to line the casks of a still for illicit brew. Ol Mac scraped a blade across the scull, sending sparks...

Though it does me no good, I'm slightly irritated by the market. I bought both of mine after 2008 in the $500 range. One of them is unfired. I see prices all over the place on these, and I am cautious to buy anything that I have not seen, unless I have a good reason to trust the seller...
