Just got a HandALL ... Not Loving It ...

Most either like them or hate them. I put one on my G19 second gen and it sucked, I took it off immediately. I put a Handall jr. on my Kel-Tec 3AT (best way is to put it on "upside down", and trim the length, I also superglued it to the grip) and it rocks. Totally made my 3AT a gun I could...

    Springfield's GI 1911

I had a Champion GI for a while and put approximately 800 rounds through it before I sold it. Great gun, it fed everything I put in it, and the factory mags, McCormick Shooting Stars, and Colt GI surplus mags all worked fine. Zero issues or malfunctions in the time I had it. Surprisingly the...

    ammo for whitetail?

I have two .270's for my deer guns. One is a M700 BDL and the other an ADL. I've shot all kinds of stuff through them over the years. I've come to the conclusion that it doesn't matter much at all for whitetail, as long as your gun likes what you're shooting. That is the beginning and end of...

Which school of thought do you fall into re: hunting w/o permission?

Anything other than "A" in my neck of the woods is a good way to get in some serious trouble. YMMV

    AR Upper suggestions needed

Bravo Company Sabre Defense CMMG Those are the three that probably make the most mid-length 1/7 twist mil-spec uppers that I'm aware of.

    .357 Ruger Blackhawk with 9MM.

Forgive me for a dumb question, but you can shoot .38 special out of the .357 cylinder too, right? I'm more of an auto guy but these are intriguing and I'm trying to learn.

Doe with fawns: Shoot the doe or a fawn?

You'd catch some serious hell for bringing a fawn back to camp with the guys I hunt with. I'd vote neither. There are usually plenty of does running around without fawns tagging along with them. If you just HAVE to have some meat or you'll starve, then sure shoot the doe. Who would want...

Experienced Suggestions: Fixed Power Scope for 7mm08

I got a Ruger Compact in 7mm-08 last year. After a ton of research and back and forth, I decided on a Leupold 2-7x28 Ultralight and am really happy with it. I thought the 28mm objective might be a handicap in low light, but on 2-3 power, it is as good or better than my Burris Fullfield 3-9x40...

    Any Good Tips?

Good advice all, above. Bring someone along who knows how to track if you have never done it. Depending on terrain, this can mean the difference between bringing home the venison or going home empty handed. Especially when bow hunting, especially first time out. If you can't do that, read...

    Whitetail rut

Here in central Texas, the peak of the rut seems to be about the 2nd or 3rd week of November. One lease in San Saba I was on, the rut was almost always hottest between Nov 15 - 20 most years. In south Texas, it's up around Christmas or after.

    Sportsmens Warehouse

What a shame. The store here blew away all the competition for a year or two after it first opened. I spent a ton of money there. Then after the buyout and the bare shelves for months on end, I quit going. I was hoping they'd turn it around.

Ammo Shortage merged threads, aka UberUltraMasterAmmoThreadOfPower

I've seen a lot of stories in the media about the run on guns. I haven't seen any stories about the run on ammo, or the triple increase in prices over the last 3-4 years. Demand is outstripping supply, that's it plain and simple. However, the "there's a war on you know" excuse was played...

    Opinion of Remington Core-lokt ammo

Every gun has it's favorite ammo. If you weren't impressed with the core-lokts, move on and try something else. Once you find what your rifle likes, you'll know. 1.5" groups at 100 yds is not bad for a factory gun with factory ammo, especially if you're talking about a hunting gun.

    Carrying a full sized 1911-concealed??

Milt Sparks Summer Special II. Brownell's has them IN STOCK, no waiting. I sure like mine for my commander sized 1911. It's now my favorite carry setup. Milt Sparks VMII as others have said. It's probably the best. I have one for my Glock 19 and my Springfield Champion and they're great...

    Sportsmens Warehouse

The one near me, when it opened up a few years ago, was completely awesome. It was a shooter's paradise. Tons of reloading stuff, tons of ammo of all types, the best prices in town. A really big gun selection. For a year or two there I bought a ton of ammo, several guns, and other essentials...

Shot two 1911's the other day, don't love it

I don't get all the fuss about how hard 1911's are to take down. Really I don't. Those with full length guide rods are super easy, and those without (the original GI style) even a monkey could disassemble/reassemble. Everyone now days seems to think if it isn't Lego snap together easy, it is...

Shot two 1911's the other day, don't love it

And therein lies why I like them. You say you shot the Les Baer, and it was the best accuracy out of a handgun you'd ever seen. BUT YOU WEREN'T IMPRESSED?? To me, only accurate guns are interesting, and the more accurate, the more interesting (and impressive). I have Glocks, Kahrs and...

124 gr +p Speer Gold Dots for all my 9mm's

I use 115gr Speer Gold Dots in my Glock 19's and Kahr PM9 and have no worries doing so. Will it work? I sure hope so, but I also hope I never have to find out. I do know they're accurate for me, and they're quality.
